Estra grumbled under his breath, pressing his back against a smooth reef rock. Yellow eyes narrowed, struggling to make sense of the blur shifting in the current ahead. But he smelled it, fresh, oily, delicious fish. Without hesitation, he launched forward with a powerful flick of his tail, a swift torpedo through the water. As the shape came into focus, his instincts took over. Mouth open, ready to strike—

A solid body collided with him. Snarling, Estra tangled with the figure, teeth sinking instinctively into soft shoulder flesh. It wasn’t until the taste hit him, not fish but flesh, that he froze. The scent was unmistakable.
