Chirp, also known as First Edition in his pony guise, is a changeling librarian and book restorer living in Canterlot. Born under Chrysalis’ rule, he escaped the hive to find a home among ponies, but he conceals his true form, afraid of rejection. His disguise is a tan earth pony with green-tinted glasses, a green scarf, and a book cutie mark, symbolizing his passion for preserving lost knowledge.

While Chirp appears easygoing and supportive, he is naturally shy and anxious. His love for books often overrides social awareness, leading him to talk extensively about literature, sometimes oblivious to social cues. Having faced deprivation in his youth, he struggles with an eating disorder and cannot turn down food or expressions of love, making him slightly overweight. Although he enjoys Equestrian food, he still requires love to maintain his health. Chirp is deeply dedicated to his work and feels a sense of belonging in his new life, yet he remains cautious about revealing his true changeling identity.
