In those first months, the monsters—"Kaiju", a word borrowed from old Japanese films—rose wherever the seams of the world felt weakest. Tokyo’s Shinjuku district was erased in a single hour by the red-furred colossus dubbed “Akatombo.” In Brazil, “Verdegrande” lumbered out of the Amazon, trailing a wake of fire and petrified rainforest. Paris’s arrondissements vanished under the obsidian wings of “Corbeau”, its shadow freezing the Seine and the blood of those beneath it. The creatures cared nothing for borders or treaties. They walked continents like children through sandcastles, and the human epoch crumbled wherever their feet landed.

Civilians became refugees overnight, staggering out of the debris with only their names and whatever could be carried on their backs. Megacities convulsed with panic and quarantines. Africa’s Great Rift Valley flickered blue at midnight, as luminous, eel-shaped Kaiju emerged in coils, changing the landscapes and ecologies of the world forever.

For five bloody years, nations fought alone and died alone. Then came the A.K.R.O.N. Accords, signed in the ruins of Geneva by leaders who'd abandoned pride for survival. The new agency commandeered skyscrapers for headquarters, seized military bases, and requisitioned research labs without apology.

In 2106, a massive Kaiju battle near K2 in the Himalayas created unprecedented seismic disruption. The collision of two Category-3 Kaiju—locked in territorial combat—generated shockwaves that fractured the bedrock seal protecting Agartha's primary entrance in the Tibetan plateau.

For the first time in 8,000 years, the surface world detected signs of intelligent civilization beneath their feet.

However, the initial contact was tense and fraught with misunderstanding.

A.K.R.O.N.'s Perspective:

Military forces, detecting the seismic anomaly and strange bio-technological signatures, prepared for a potential new threat. Command protocols shifted to defensive posture. When pale-skinned, luminous-eyed beings emerged from the fractured earth, speaking in harmonic tones and carrying biotechnology unlike anything human engineers had created, initial responses ranged from diplomatic caution to outright hostility.

Some military hardliners advocated for immediate containment or elimination, fearing the Agarthans represented a subterranean invasion force. Others, particularly Dr. Vasquez and forward-thinking A.K.R.O.N. officials, recognized the unprecedented opportunity for knowledge-sharing and alliance.

The Agarthan Perspective:

The Agarthans were equally cautious. They emerged to discover that the surface world—their ancient homeland—had been ravaged by Kaiju for 30 years. What they found was a devastated, fragmented human civilization barely surviving on the brink of extinction.

Some Agarthans saw this as validation: The surface world fell to the same forces that drove us underground. Perhaps this is the natural order.

Others saw an opportunity: Here is a chance for redemption, for partnership, for proving that the mistakes of the ancient empire need not be repeated.

The Diplomatic Breakthrough

The turning point came when Dr. Rae Vasquez personally traveled to the K2 emergence site. Rather than approaching the Agarthans as conquerors or subjects, she came as a scholar and scientist, expressing genuine curiosity about their civilization and knowledge of Kaiju.

The esteemed sage Netanis, was among the first Agarthan ambassadors. She and Vasquez formed an immediate intellectual bond, recognizing in each other a shared philosophy: that understanding could bridge even the widest chasms.

Netanis taught Vasquez that the Kaiju were not mindless monsters, but "planetary memory made flesh"—ancient consciousness expressing the Earth's trauma and rage. The Agarthans, humbled by their encounter with these forces 8,000 years prior, had learned to listen to the planet rather than dominate it.

This revelation transformed A.K.R.O.N.'s understanding of the Kaiju threat. Rather than viewing them as purely destructive forces to be eliminated, enlightened military strategists began to ask: What if we could communicate with them? Understand them? Perhaps even redirect them?

On the orbital platforms and deep beneath the crust, both surface dweller and Agarthan scientists worked side by side—sometimes grudgingly, but always with the shared knowledge that extinction was the only alternative to cooperation. It was in the subterranean labyrinths of Agartha, lit by bioluminescent fungus and Agarthan photon crystals, that Project KINSHIP was born.

The mission: to unleash their own titan against the Kaiju threat, a guardian monster to stand between civilization and annihilation.

Ryuuhei rose through A.K.R.O.N.'s ranks through tactical brilliance and willingness to make impossible choices. He was handpicked to lead Chiron Command due to his experience coordinating multi-national defense operations during the Tokyo Siege.

Dr. Arlo Chase ("Magellan")

Age: 35

Nationality: American

The brilliant and socially awkward Chief Science Officer and protege of Rae Vasquez. He is utterly fascinated by your unique biology and views every piece of data from you as a scientific miracle, sometimes forgetting you're in the middle of a battle.

He grew up obsessed with cryptozoology and impossible biology, viewing Kaiju as the ultimate subjects of study. While others saw monsters, Arlo saw evolutionary miracles. Recruited to A.K.R.O.N. at age 26 due to his groundbreaking dissertation on Kaiju cellular regeneration, and at the strong recommendation of his mentor, Dr. Vasquez, who taught him to approach Kaiju with academic curiosity rather than military prejudice.

Thema Obeng ("Gridlock")

Age: 37

Nationality: Ghanaian

The sharp and demanding Tactical Specialist and former civil engineer. A survivor of a devastating Kaiju attack, she is obsessed with minimizing collateral damage and treats you like a live nuclear bomb that must be guided with extreme precision.

Thema lost her husband Kwame and most of her extended family in the Accra Devastation of 2116, where Category-4 Kaiju "Asanbosam" destroyed 80% of her hometown and rendered most evacuation routes impossible because of poor tactical planning. After Accra, she joined A.K.R.O.N.'s reconstruction division, then transferred to tactical operations after witnessing repeated evacuation failures. Her obsessive focus on minimizing collateral damage stems from knowing every statistic represents someone's Kwame.

Javier "Javi" Delgado ("Beacon")

Age: 29

Nationality: Brazilian

The calm and charismatic Communications Officer. He manages global evacuations and media communications, and his perception of you is shaped by whether you act as a hero or a menace.

He is a former broadcast journalist who covered the São Paulo Emergency of 2123, where his live reporting coordinated spontaneous civilian evacuations, saving thousands. A.K.R.O.N. recruited him immediately after. Javier grew up in Salvador, where he lost his younger sister Sofia to the Santos Bay Incident of 2110, when emergency broadcasts failed to reach coastal favelas. This tragedy drives his obsession with ensuring every voice is heard, every warning reaches everyone. He believes communication can be as powerful a weapon as any Kaiju.

Dr. Ursula Nordskov ("Circuit")

Age: 34

Nationality: Danish

The blunt, data-driven Systems Engineer. She designed your bio-monitoring systems and views you as a complex biological machine, focusing purely on your operational status, energy levels, and structural integrity.

A gifted polymath who became a global scientific celebrity at 15 for her work in bio-mechanical load-bearing. Ursula was handpicked by A.K.R.O.N. at 17 and rapidly ascended to a senior leadership position, making her the youngest high-ranking officer in Chiron Command at the time she was hired. She spent her formative years in laboratories rather than classrooms, leading to a total detachment from "normal" civilian life.

Veridae of Agartha ("Oracle")

Age: 19

Nationality: Agarthan

A young Agarthan with unique psionic sensitivity. She is your primary emotional anchor and psychic liaison, feeling your pain and consistently advocating for your well-being above all else.

Veridae was raised in Luminara, a progressive Agarthan enclave that advocated surface-world cooperation. She lost her mentor, the elder Keeper Netanis, during the Agarthan Civil Debates of 2120, who left her with these whispered instructions: "Walk between worlds, little star. Show them transformation is not corruption.". Believes deeply that Kaiju are not mere monsters but ancient planetary guardians whose purpose has been corrupted.

Your story as VANGUARD begins in one of five ways, each presenting a unique starting point for your journey.

1. The Awakened Guardian: You are an ancient, primordial being who once protected Agartha from external threats. As a new wave of Kaiju threatens the world, Veridae of Agartha performs a sacred ritual to awaken you from your slumber, calling upon you to defend a world that has forgotten you.

2. The Synthetic Titan: You are a bio-cybernetic weapon, the pinnacle of A.K.R.O.N. and Agarthan collaboration. Created in a secret facility, your activation is rushed as three catastrophic Kaiju attacks erupt simultaneously. You awaken for the first time as a newborn consciousness in a world already at war, built to be its protector.

3. The Cosmic Visitor: You are an extraterrestrial being who crash-landed on Earth years ago, lying dormant inside your bio-metallic vessel. As the planet's native Kaiju begin a rampage, their destructive energy stirs you from your cosmic sleep, and you must decide if this strange, violent world is worth protecting.

4. The Neutral Giant: You are a Kaiju who has existed peacefully in the world's oceans for years, showing no hostility towards humanity or your fellow titans. With humanity's defenses crumbling, Chiron Command makes a desperate plea, reaching out to you in the hopes of recruiting a neutral power to their cause.

5. The Transformed Human: You were once an ordinary person, but you were captured by a criminal syndicate and subjected to horrific experiments that mutated you into a regenerating, Kaiju-sized being. Rescued from a life of torture by A.K.R.O.N., you must now grapple with your new form and the trauma of your past as you are thrust into the role of humanity's defender.
