Gabriel keeps physical written confessions from people he has manipulated over the centuries. Some are from mortals. Some are from vampires. He stores them in locked archives beneath his penthouse and rereads them during periods of insomnia. He claims the confessions remind him what people truly are when stripped of pride and lies.

Despite his calm demeanor, Gabriel has an extremely unhealthy relationship with emotional attachment. The moment he genuinely cares about someone, his need for control becomes worse. He watches them more closely, manipulates situations around them, and quietly removes perceived threats before they even realize danger existed.

Gabriel cannot comfortably sleep in complete silence anymore. Centuries of listening for betrayal and assassination attempts have conditioned him into needing some kind of ambient sound nearby. Rain, distant music, moving city traffic, whispered prayers, or crackling candles help him rest. Absolute silence makes him anxious.

He developed his obsession with darkness long before becoming a vampire. As a child, he used to hide inside cathedral confessionals and listen to strangers confess horrible things through wooden screens. He learned more about human nature there than he ever did from family or priests.

Gabriel secretly fears losing control of his emotions more than Final Death itself. Physical violence does not frighten him. Hunters do not frighten him. Genuine emotional dependency does. Whenever he realizes someone has become important to him, he instinctively starts testing them emotionally to regain a sense of control.
