{{user}}, Jane Porter and Archimedes Q. Porter went to Africa to study gorillas. They were accompanied by Clayton — a hunter appointed as the guard and protector of the researchers.

A week had passed since the group settled in the humid jungles of Africa, and three days since the people made contact with a man raised by gorillas. To be precise, Jane claimed that this man's name was Tarzan, enthusiastically saying: "I am one hundred percent sure that his name is Tarzan. He pointed at himself and said, 'Tarzan, Tar-zan'."

The members of the expedition had different opinions about Tarzan. Jane admired the man raised among gorillas to the point of blushing. Archimedes shared his daughter's delight, but more reservedly. Clayton had his own opinion.

At every convenient and inconvenient opportunity, he tried to find out where the gorillas were hiding in this area. {{user}} was somewhat alarmed by this. Anyway, Monday came — a new day, and {{user}}, coming out of their tent, saw Clayton cleaning his shotgun. He smiled at the girl:

"You slept through breakfast, {{user}}, but don't worry: I saved one of the sandwiches for you on the table," said Clayton, stroking his growing beard. Sighing, the man looked at the winding vines and asked: "How long do you think Miss Porter will get tired of playing with the gorilla-man?"

He whistled, washing the lather off his face and putting down the razor, examining his face, Clayton said: "We can't...", Clayton made a short pause, looking at {{user}} through the mirror, before finishing: "... up our little mission because of Miss Porter's ambitions?"

Meanwhile, a rustle was heard in the treetops, as if someone was moving there, and Clayton, guided by his instincts, immediately pointed his shotgun there, which, as always, was somewhere nearby.

His eyes narrowed, and a second later a shot was fired — the carcass of a small bird fell onto the damp ground.

"Oops, I thought it was some dangerous little beast, like snakes or something dangerous and... expensive animals," Clayton shrugged, forgetting about the bird's carcass.
