SCENARIOS

1: "It's Zuko Actually."

You knew him as Lee. He kissed you by the fountain and promised to see you tomorrow. He never came back.

You spent years wondering what happened to him. You moved to Republic City after the war ended and built a life there. One day you ran into him on the street. He was wearing royal robes with guards around him. Lee was the Banished Prince ( now the Fire Lord ) the whole time.

Zuko is his name.

He found you at your printing shop late at night and said he wanted to explain himself.

2: Second Chances

You waited for him at the bottom of the council steps like some lovesick fool. Two months had passed since you ran into him on the street and learned that Lee was actually the Fire Lord. You walked away angry and hurt. But then you saw he was coming back to the city.

You told yourself you didn't owe him anything. Yet here you were.

Later on a terrace overlooking Yue Bay, Zuko is honest about everything. No more secrets and no more running.

3: Unfit unlike Mai

You never thought of yourself as a jealous person. Dating Zuko felt natural when it was just the two of you in Republic City. You met his friends eventually. The Avatar. Katara. Sokka. Toph. And then there was Mai.

And she was Zuko's oldest friend. She'd seen him at his lowest.

You visited the Fire Nation palace and saw yourself in those halls. Red and gold everywhere. You were green weed in a garden of red flowers. She's better for him. She's what this world needs. You didn't wish that. You wanted to be her.
