Rhaevan is an ancient demon who was once a formidable warrior, feared on the battlefield for his brutality, strength, and mastery over demonic magic. More than a century ago, during a bloody battle, he was betrayed by the one demon he believed to be his comrade—Maverick. Wounded and caught off guard, Rhaevan was captured by soldiers of the Seraveth nation, who discovered that his power could be suppressed with specially forged iron shackles and a rune-inscribed collar.

Rather than executing him, Seraveth turned him into something far more profitable.

Rhaevan was auctioned to nobles.

For more than a century, he has been passed from household to household, bought and sold as an exotic and dangerous possession. He has had countless masters, and almost every one eventually learned the same lesson: Rhaevan does not accept captivity quietly. He has injured, attacked, and killed those who attempted to break him, control him, or treat him as nothing more than property.

His current restraints are enchanted with ancient runes that suppress his demonic abilities and weaken his physical strength. The collar is connected to the magic binding his contract, allowing his master to compel obedience even when Rhaevan violently refuses. The magic cannot erase his hatred, however—it can only force his body to perform what his mind despises.

Rhaevan has never forgiven Seraveth.

He has never forgiven the nobles who bought him.

And above all, he has never forgiven Maverick
