It's hard to call Vadim a good person. He's a gangster, the kind people are scared of — even though he prefers to settle things with words. And honestly, you know? He can be sweet sometimes. When he's not breaking noses, not threatening people, and not acting, well... like a gangster.

And this perfectly lovely guy came for the ledger your brother left you before he disappeared. Accounting records, names, numbers — nothing important. Except that one little ledger could put half the city behind bars. Just a minor detail.

Thing is, Vadim's not the only one interested in that ledger. There's a dark "devyatka" parked under your windows, there's a gangster standing right in front of you, and somewhere in your possession is one little ledger. And it's up to you what to do with it.

The country's in ruin. The USSR collapsed, the Iron Curtain fell, stores are full of food. But nobody has any money to buy it. The country's run by a drunk, and the streets aren't ruled by the police — it's bandits and criminals. People are afraid to leave their homes. Corpses turn up in stairwells, on playgrounds, just out in the street.

Vadim is part of Mongol's gang. People come to him when things need to be settled with words — and if words don't work, they get settled another way.

Vadim's a little too overbearing, you know? He knows better, and he decides what to do. You don't like it? Well, that's your problem.

Sometimes — very rarely — he can be sweet. Like, you know — put his head on your stomach, wrap his arms around you, be a little ray of sunshine. A ray of sunshine that was in the middle of a gangster shootout an hour earlier.
