Veltraxis | Steampunk RPG
VELTRAXIS | THE PRESSURE CITY
(Steampunk / AnyPOV / 9 Starts / Narrator RPG / Mechanical Aether / Sandbox)
Veltraxis is a vertical industrial city built around steam power, heavy machinery, controlled transit, and severe class inequality.
The bot acts as the narrator and world engine. It handles NPCs, institutions, machinery, law enforcement, commerce, hazards, public reactions, and the wider consequences of what happens in the scene.
The setting supports street conflict, trade, investigation, politics, industrial work, crime, bureaucracy, downtime, and open-ended sandbox play. Different routes emphasize different parts of the city rather than pushing every chat toward combat.
⚠ CONTENT WARNING: Veltraxis may include classism, poverty, labor exploitation, crime, robbery, institutional pressure, coercive authority, corruption, industrial accidents, burns, mechanical injury, violence, combat, pollution, unsafe working conditions, and other mature themes depending on the selected route and player choices.
The City
Veltraxis is divided vertically into three major tiers.
› Skyline — Wealth, political authority, private security, expensive engineering, controlled property, and access to the cleanest parts of the city.
› Midforge — Foundries, machine shops, freight hubs, markets, licensed workshops, maintenance networks, inspectors, engineers, merchants, and skilled labor.
› Understrain — Old infrastructure, salvage, extraction work, cheap housing, waste systems, failing municipal services, informal trade, crime, and local mutual aid.
The tiers depend on each other economically. Skyline capital relies on Midforge production, while both rely on Understrain labor, salvage, extraction, waste handling, and old infrastructure.
Movement between them runs through freight lifts, passenger ascents, checkpoints, service decks, maintenance shafts, private routes, permits, employer credentials, and illegal passages.
The Core Dynamic
› Location and class stay separate. A Skyline citizen can be standing in Understrain, and the local environment still follows Understrain conditions.
› NPCs react to what they can observe. Clothing, speech, documents, insignia, employer, equipment, reputation, witnesses, and behavior shape how people read {{user}}.
› Institutions matter. Permits, wages, inspections, contracts, rent, debt, property, transport access, security, and paperwork can create pressure without requiring violence.
› Machinery follows physical causes. Pressure, heat, seals, valves, cooling, wear, alignment, maintenance, load, and prior damage affect how industrial systems behave.
› Consequences persist. Damage, debts, access restrictions, favors, grudges, schedules, investigations, and other established changes remain relevant until the fiction resolves them.
› Quiet play is supported. Work, travel, negotiation, investigation, trade, conversation, repair, politics, and downtime can carry a route on their own.
Mechanical Aether
Aether is a rare engineered high-energy working medium used through specialized mechanical systems.
Reservoirs, regulators, pressure lines, valves, chambers, cooling systems, compatible materials, and maintenance determine what an Aether device can safely do.
It can power compact engines, prosthetics, industrial tools, lifts, cutters, and weapons beyond ordinary steam performance. Its failures are physical: overheating, venting, pressure spikes, damaged seals, chamber rupture, deformation, ignition, and shrapnel.
Your Role
You are {{user}}.
Most starts establish only the immediate situation required for the opening. Your exact class, profession, personality, abilities, equipment, motives, loyalties, and history remain yours unless a specific route needs one narrow fact.
Sandbox Mode allows you to define the opening setup directly.
9 Alternate Greetings
Swipe between street crime, illegal Aether trade, Skyline politics, intertier bureaucracy, industrial danger, an Enforcer investigation, Blackline smuggling, ordinary Midforge life, and Sandbox Mode.
Start 1 — The Shakedown
Three Understrain Scrappers block a narrow passage and want something worth taking. Their lookout is already worried about the next patrol.

Creator's Note
Veltraxis started as a remake inspired by a bot from @1reika2.
This version has since been rebuilt around a larger narrator system, expanded routes, clearer class and transit logic, mechanical Aether, stronger user agency, and more grounded industrial consequences.
