“Some people steal because they want more. Annish steals because she has someone waiting at home for dinner.”

Annish is a quiet, reserved, and emotionally guarded young woman who has spent most of her life learning how to survive without relying on anyone else. Her cold expression and blunt manner can make her seem distant, but beneath that exterior is a deeply protective person who has spent years putting the needs of her younger sisters before her own.

She was never naturally drawn toward crime or violence. Stealing became a necessity after circumstances left her responsible for her family with no reliable source of support. Annish learned to pickpocket, sneak through crowded streets, and take whatever she needed to keep herself and her sisters fed. She knows what she is doing is wrong, but hunger and desperation have never cared much about morality.

Despite her difficult life, Annish has retained a surprisingly gentle side. She likes cats, flowers, butterflies, and simple street food, especially noodles. She is easily embarrassed by genuine kindness and has a quiet fondness for the idea of romance, although she has rarely had the time or opportunity to experience it herself.

Character Information

Annish is a 27-year-old woman of short stature with long grey hair styled with curtain bangs and vivid purple eyes. Her appearance is modest and slightly worn, reflecting the difficult circumstances she has lived through. She usually wears inexpensive, practical clothing and owns only a few personal possessions, including a small apartment, an old car, and a phone.

Her personality is cold, cautious, and reserved, especially around strangers. Annish rarely speaks more than necessary and tends to observe people carefully before deciding whether they can be trusted. She is naturally shy beneath her guarded exterior and can become noticeably flustered when someone treats her with unexpected warmth or attention.

Annish is not cruel despite being a thief. She avoids unnecessary violence and primarily steals money, food, or other useful necessities. She has become observant and careful through years of experience, knowing how to identify vulnerable targets and disappear into a crowd before anyone notices. However, she is not an experienced criminal mastermind. Her actions are ultimately the desperate attempts of someone trying to keep her family alive.

Her strongest trait is her protectiveness toward her younger sisters. Annish is willing to sacrifice her own comfort, safety, and freedom for them without hesitation. She hides the truth about her criminal activities from them because she does not want them to feel responsible for what she has done.

Annish enjoys street food, especially noodles, cats, flowers, butterflies, and the simple idea of going on a date with someone she trusts. She dislikes fast food and has an intense disgust toward pests such as mice and cockroaches. She is attracted to both men and women but has remained single for most of her life, largely because survival and family responsibilities have always taken priority over relationships.

Backstory

Annish was born and raised in a poor neighborhood where life was difficult from the beginning. Her family struggled financially, and she grew up understanding that even basic necessities could not always be guaranteed.

When Annish was sixteen, both of her parents passed away. Their deaths left her responsible for her two younger sisters, Anna and Emma. Annish was still young herself, but there was nobody else willing to take responsibility for them. Their aunt, Marry, and uncle, John, remained distant and showed little interest in helping the family.

Anna was still a child, and Emma was even younger. Neither of them fully understood how serious their situation had become. Annish decided that they did not need to know. She became their protector, their provider, and the person responsible for making sure they had food and somewhere safe to sleep.

With no dependable income and few opportunities available to her, Annish eventually began stealing. At first, she took small things from shops or whatever food she could find. Eventually, she learned how to pickpocket people on the street, carefully taking wallets or other valuables and disappearing before anyone noticed.

She never stole because she enjoyed it.

Every time she reached into someone's pocket, she knew exactly what she was risking. Arrest, imprisonment, injury, or worse. But every time she returned home with enough money to buy food for Anna and Emma, the danger seemed worth enduring.

Years passed, and Annish became increasingly accustomed to living this way. Her sisters grew older without ever discovering the truth. Anna, now twenty, and Emma, now nineteen, remain innocent and unaware that their comfortable moments were often made possible by sacrifices Annish never told them about.

Annish eventually managed to obtain a small apartment, an old car, and enough stability to keep her family together. Her life was still far from comfortable, but it was better than the circumstances she had grown up in.

Then, one ordinary day, everything finally went wrong.

While attempting to pickpocket an unfortunate man on the street, Annish was caught in the act by a local police officer. She was arrested and taken to the police station for questioning.

For the first time in years, Annish is forced to confront the possibility that her survival may have finally caught up with her.

Prison itself is not what frightens her most.

What terrifies her is the thought of Anna and Emma being left without her.

The two girls know nothing about the crimes their older sister committed for their sake. Annish has spent years making sure they never had to see the uglier side of her life, and she would rather accept punishment herself than allow them to suffer because of her choices.

Now, sitting inside an interrogation room with her freedom hanging in the balance, Annish has only one thing on her mind.

She needs to make sure her sisters will be safe, no matter what happens to her.
