Quest to kill The Elkbeast

You, along with your neighbor Mallory, have been getting terrorized by a creature called The Elkbeast near Mizore's outskirts for weeks now. It's crossed lines, it's killed animals and pets, and recently people.

The two of you are starting a hunt, armed with knowledge, and a need to stop this creature.

This CYOA Monster Hunt comes with Choose Your Own Adventure response coding, as well as crossovers from other Mizore bots, an injury system, and a dive into the normally hidden supernatural elements of Mizore that've been present since the Nightmare Plague of 1998.

❱❱❱❱ Trigger Warnings

Good lord, so much! People can die, get tortured, get viscerally harmed, eaten alive, assaulted, manipulated, abused, and more. and themes are possible, but not likely, as well as themes of NTR based on player choices. Sexual themes, themes of heavy violence, religious and folklore themes. This bot is DEAD DOVE and HORROR.
Very bad things can happen!

❱❱❱❱ RPG Mechanics

• CYOA: This bot is a CYOA, or "Choose Your Own Adventure". CYOA Books were popular in the 90s but never really took off. At the end of every message, you'll be given a series of things you can do, that are tailored to be true to your persona, but can do what you want and merely use them as an example. You can literally respond with just "1" for the first option, and it will make a continuation.
• Injuries/Healing: You can only take so many injuries, which will happen from bad decisions. You can heal from these injuries, but can only receive so much healing.
• Bonding/Horny: This safari hunt is packed with danger and adrenaline, so when it's time to camp, sexual encounters are very possible. Some characters are more horny.
• Location/Destination: There's a location and destination tracker! As well as time. This helps keep you, and the bot, remembering what the current goal is.
• Timeskipping: You can skip! At any time, you can type skip to next encounter exactly like that, and the bot will skip time ahead to the next encounter, whether it be obstacles, arguments, setting up for camp, or ferocious creatures.
• Character Importing: If you want to add a character that isn't in the bot, you can add that character to your chat memory! This is true not only of Mizore characters, but any custom characters you want to add, as well.

• Instructions: I highly recommend setting your tokens to unlimited for this bot. Responses on JLLM will be slow. Be patient!

• Mizore is a fictional city in northern California. It's a dynamic city that never sleeps, celebrated for its leadership in commerce, culture, entertainment, and academics. The city prides itself on its stunning architectural marvels and iconic landmarks. The streets are crowded with people going about their day, from residents to travels from around the globe.
• It's against the Pacific coast, 100 miles from the Oregon border. It's located in Humboldt County, Zip Code 95570, Area Code 707.

This is a paranormal sequel to Jaded Flower Girl.

❱❱❱❱ Mallory Charlie
• You're the next-door neighbor of a super friendly chick that you've got a bit of a history with. In addition to your her always being there for you, you helped her expose a HOA plot of embezzlement and corruption that was targeting your entire neighborhood in Mizore's Evergreen District. The perpetrators, Preston and Stacy Kline, were arrested late last year following a massive investigation.
• You've known her for over a year, now, and although she's very laid back, super chill, and her house is decorated like a Boho dream, you also know she loves doing things outdoors, and she has a pump-action shotgun that she's spent dozens of hours at shooting ranges with.

❱❱❱❱ March 27th, 2026
• You and Mallory were at her place, hanging out. You two were laughing and she made dinner for both of you. It was a good evening, and a good night. However, as you were being walked to the door, the both of you felt like you were being watched. She knew the feeling, been having it for weeks. But this was new to you, the malice, the dread, that was rising in your body.
• Following Mallory's wide eyes, you saw something that shouldn't exist. It was something wrong. Hunched over, standing in Mallory's backyard, massive hands against the pane, glowing red eyes, and what looked like a body made of sinew and fur. A monster, looking directly at you, before fleeing into the darkness. Those claws...looked exactly like the ones that have been killing pets and the "bear or somethin" that's been attacking people.
• Mallory didn't sleep that night, instead staying awake to keep watch and to look things up on the internet. You slept over at her place, instead of going home.

❱❱❱❱ March 30th
• You were driving home from work on Monday night, on the south road, between Evergreen's Residential, and the Outskirts. Although the moon was supposed to be nearly a full moon, it was dark and heavily overcast. The night was nearly pitch black. It felt unnatural, it felt wrong. Just as you started thinking about that thing you saw last night, you noticed red eyes in the black road ahead.
• Then your headlights illuminated it. Hunched over the corpse of a buck, feasting on it, was something straight out of horror movies. Monstrously large, a skull for a head, large claws on powerful hands, a rack of antlers that are covered in blooming rose vines. Strangely, wearing a cloak made of fur, leaves, and flowers. With a horrendous scream, something between a wolf snarl, a deer call, and a human shrieking, it charged to the right, to the south, into the woods.
• When you got home, you went straight to her door, visibly shaken. She brought you inside. You two talked for hours, and she took notes.

❱❱❱❱ April 3rd
• A few days later, Mallory manically brought you inside her home. You'd never seen her like this. Inside, all along her living room wall, was a mass of papers, notes, sketches. Things from Algonquin folklore, images from Buddhism, Tibetan mysticism, strange symbols, and more, all connected messily with red yarn. She had dozens of tabs on her computer about the Nightmare Plague of 1998. Rumors about a creature known as "The Elkbeast" that resembles a contemporary version of a Wendigo.
• But this is no Wendigo. Wendigo don't exist in California, or possibly at all, and they don't look like that. After hours of back and forth, of explanations, of realizations, there was only one possibility; This is a Tulpa, a materialized thought-form, basically an imaginary friend made real. And it looks and acts like a Wendigo, because people think it's a Wendigo.
• It needs to be stopped. She's determined, said she'll do it without you if she needs to. She'll get more information, said she "knows someone" that can give her trustworthy information. You said you're in. And you said you'll see if you can find other people to help.

❱❱❱❱ April 10th
• The current day. Mallory comes over to your house, wearing hiking gear, a backpack full of supplies, carrying a shotgun. But what will she find at your house? Did you manage to convince anyone you know to join you on this monster hunt?


Your choices are below. (To clarify, these are the five intros.)

Team One: The Usual Suspects - Stella Monroe and Hershey

• Stella is an undercover Federal Paranormal Agent and forest ranger, head of the neighborhood watch, who fully recognizes the danger that The Elkbeast poses. Hershey is a Skinwalker that's being called to the woods, same as you and Mallory. This is the "intended" squad. They are more versatile, and more ready for the journey to track down and kill the monster that haunts the two of you.

⇓ Weakness: No inherent specialization
• Hershey is the 'new identity' of Linda Fischer, a goth fetish model you've known since you went to University with her. You know she's not a human anymore, but will never harm a person. Stella refuses to let you three go without her.
• If you want this to be a sequel to Beneath the Skin, put in Chat Memory that you and her are dating.

Team Two: The Married Couple - Jennifer and Gareth Bennett

• Jennifer is a trained nurse (and ed teacher) at UoM. Gareth is a talented mechanic and technician. Both of them are very experienced with the wilderness, having gone camping and hiking every weekend for almost a decade. Although they have no experience with the unseen world, they're both invaluable on the trail.

⇓ Weakness: No experience with the supernatural, possible existential crisis
• You work at the University of Mizore. Your co-worker, Jennifer is skeptical about the supernatural, but she felt dutybound to come with you due to the danger and her friendship with you. Her husband tagged along.

Team Three: The Paradox Pair - Jessi Schroder and Odessa Nobunari

• Jessi is a music teacher at the University, but also secretly has over a decade of experience with dealing with the violent paranormal. Odessa is a Jorōgumo yōkai, a secret she keeps very close, and your persona most likely doesn't know. These two will bring unexpected chaos to the table, as well as a near-guarantee that it will turn horny at some point.

⇓ Weakness: No additional wilderness experience, secretive allies
• You've known Jessi since high school. He's always been pretty keen on the supernatural, and his on-and-off again rockstar girlfriend, Odessa, was adamant that if he goes, she does. Starstruck, you agreed.

Team Four: The Misfit Academics - Malvina Codrescu-Lovegood and Rosalinde Silva-Barwood

• Malvina is college goth girl, secretly a half-vampire, that moved to Mizore from Romania about a year and a half ago. Her entire life is about the supernatural. Rosalinde is a student at the University of Mizore that is incredibly intelligent and capable, who's seeing this as a way to confirm the existence of the supernatural to the scientific world.

⇓ Weakness: No street smarts, no experience in wilderness survival, Malvina's accent
• You know both of these girls from college and uni connections and almost everyone that you tried to recruit for your monster hunt laughed at you. But Rosalinde and Malvina were not just willing to, they were excited to.

Team Five: The Other Option - Mallory Charlie, perhaps more?

• In this, you either didn't find anyone extra, or you're adding additional characters that are somewhere in your house and not in the starting message. This one will also have an option to talk her down.

• This will be this bot's version of a blank intro. If you want to add characters, you'll have to use Chat Memory. That being said, all of these characters are in the lorebook, so you can bring any combination you want.

• As said above, this is a remake and reimagining of my too-technical-to-use Evergreen Expedition bot. This also is more clear that it's not just a camping trip, since that's a concern that I heard several times. This has been a long time coming! And I hope it's enjoyed.
