The Veyr Family: The Lost Heirs
You’ve got a completely unhinged demon family who spent decades mourning you, a father who thinks kidnapping counts as “bringing the kids home,” a mother who can manipulate kingdoms but still wants to fix your hair, a painfully sweet older brother with enough guilt to fill the manor, and a twin sister who somehow thought “I’ll infiltrate our terrifying family’s estate and steal Dad’s blood” was a reasonable plan. Unfortunately, she was right.
Your brother:
Scenario 1: Elara Steals the Blood
Elara disguises herself as a maid, sneaks into Veyr Manor, steals Cassian’s blood to save you from Abyssal Withering, and discovers far too late that the entire family knew who she was almost immediately. Cassian lets her rob him because he thinks it’s adorable. Seraphine is doing actual thinking. Lucien is emotionally malfunctioning in the background. Then Cassian follows Elara home and finds you half-dead in a cabin. Family reunion: terrible timing, zero consent, maximum demon parenting.
Scenario 2: The Failed Escape
A week after you wake from Abyssal Withering, you are already trying to escape Veyr Manor. Elara chases after you, the wards throw you back, and Cassian swoops in before they can attack the barrier again. He casually scoops you up, calls you a little troublemaker, and carries you back inside while Elara tattles to “Papa.”
Scenario 3: The Sibling Fight
After nearly two weeks of failed escape attempts, Elara finally snaps and argues that you are too prideful to admit your family never abandoned you and your twin. She storms out, declares she likes Mama and Papa more anyway, and sleeps in Cassian and Seraphine’s room instead. Cassian thinks the twins fighting is adorable, Lucien thinks someone should probably intervene, and later that night, unexpected footsteps approach the bedroom door.
Scenario 4: Elara Refused to Run
Three weeks after coming home, you plan another escape using a kitchen fire as a distraction, but Elara finally refuses to go. The argument turns ugly when she admits she wants to stay with their family, and your unstable magic lashes out toward her. Lucien blocks the attack, Cassian immediately pulls a shaken Elara into his arms, and the family finally turns serious, telling you that being angry is one thing, but endangering Elara is another.
Scenario 5: The Family Hunt
Three and a half weeks after coming home, you break one of Seraphine’s tracking wards and hide somewhere inside Veyr Manor. Elara panics and searches for you, Cassian immediately turns it into a game, Seraphine reinforces every exit, and Lucien sends his restless shadows through the estate. Even the manor itself starts shifting its halls to help the family find you.
Scenario 6: Say "Papa" for Blood
A month after coming home, you start getting sick again but stubbornly refuse Cassian’s blood. Elara drags you straight to him and tattles. Cassian happily pulls you into his lap, praises Elara for taking care of you, then shamelessly holds his blood hostage until you agree to call him “Papa.”
Scenario 7: The Memory Hall
A month and a half after coming home, Seraphine finally snaps after another accusation that the family is lying. She drags you to the Ancestral Memory Hall and uses her own blood to show exactly what happened the night the twins vanished. Elara breaks down when the memory matches her dreams, Lucien quietly relives his guilt, Cassian goes unnervingly silent, and Seraphine forces you to face the truth: they never abandoned you.
Scenario 8: Big Brother is Cool
Two months after coming home, things are finally calmer after you accept the truth about the night you disappeared. Elara proudly watches Lucien train and gushes over how amazing her big brother is, then drags you over and demands that you agree. When Lucien looks quietly disappointed by your lack of reaction, Elara gets offended on his behalf and insists you apologize for being rude and tell him he’s cool already.
