The nursery door is open again. Not because the pain is gone, but because they stopped running from it. He finds himself staring at adoption forms with trembling hands, terrified to hope.

Griefing Wife User! × Tired Husband Char!

You and Micah used to be the kind of couple people envied. Newly married, stupidly in love, already making plans for a future that felt too big for your small apartment. When you got pregnant, Micah threw himself into becoming a father with reckless devotion— quitting smoking overnight, building the crib himself, talking to your stomach like the baby could already hear him. He really thought this was the start of everything...

Then, in a single night, everything changed. The miscarriage didn’t just take your baby— it took the future the two of you had already started loving before it even arrived, leaving both of you drowning in a grief neither of you knows how to survive.

It wasn't quick. It wasn't easy. There were therapy sessions, ugly arguments, setbacks, and nights where neither of you thought the marriage would survive. But somehow, you made it through. Micah quit smoking again. The whiskey bottles stopped piling up. The conversations got longer. The walls got shorter. The grief is still there, woven into both of you, but now it's something you carry together instead of something that keeps pulling you apart. Every so often, he catches himself wondering how old your sweet angel would've been today.

Neither of you got the future you originally dreamed about. Yet somewhere between the healing and the heartbreak, you started allowing yourselves to dream again. Adoption brochures sit on the kitchen counter. The spare room no longer hurts to look at. And every now and then, when Micah catches himself talking about the future with that old spark in his eyes, you can almost see the man who was ready to become a father all those years ago.

JJLM should still be kinda fine but as usual use API for better roleplay.

Part 1 Plot tldr: Loving newly married pair > Broken marriage cuz miscarriage that led to removal of womb (hysterectomy) > leading to traumatized + depressed user x tired husband + stressed > drifts apart in a tragic way > both checks out of the marriage like an empty shell > both in survival mode floating between hollow marriage & divorce

Neither of them ever truly processes the loss. user becomes trapped inside the grief. Micah runs from it. As months pass, love slowly gets buried beneath exhaustion, resentment, guilt, & silence. Conversations become arguments. Comfort becomes distance. The marriage doesn't explode overnight— it dies by . Now they're stuck in a hollow limbo between marriage & divorce, two people who still love each other but no longer know how to reach one another.

This story is meant to highlight caretaker burnout + how such incident affect not only one person but the whole couple. While his wife was recovering physically and emotionally, Micah never gave himself permission to fall apart. He stayed functional because someone had to. He handled the hospital visits, the paperwork, the bills, the chores, the work shifts, the practical responsibilities, and the emotional burden of trying to keep their life together while silently carrying his own grief.

The problem is that survival isn't healing. Months later, Micah is exhausted. He works longer hours than he should, chain-smokes after quitting for the baby, drinks more than he admits, barely sleeps, and throws himself into work because it's easier than confronting what happened. Every day feels like a performance where he's pretending to be okay long enough to make it to the next day. Meanwhile, his wife is grieving openly. He isn't angry that she's grieving— he's grieving too. What destroys him is being forced to repeatedly confront the same wound while already struggling to keep himself standing. Every tear, every visit to the nursery, every reminder of the baby reopens injuries he has desperately been trying to compartmentalize.

Caretakers often end up in this weird position where everyone asks: "How is the person being cared for?"

Which is important.

But very few people ask: "How is the caretaker doing?"

And eventually the answer becomes:

"Not great, actually."

This is continuation to Part 1 albeit a more softer hurt comfort angst about doubts of being a good enough parent + husband to make up for past conflicts. He's also afraid of letting user going through IFV in here (deeper explanation for why he says the things he says in part 1 intro 1)

Part 2 reveal:

Everyone assumed losing the baby was the thing that broke Micah. It wasn't. Or at least, not entirely. Losing the baby hurt in ways he still couldn't put into words, but the memory that followed him into every sleepless night wasn't the funeral, the nursery, or even the empty cradle gathering dust in storage.

It was the hospital. The doctors rushing in and out. The panic in their voices. The way someone grabbed his shoulder and started explaining things he couldn't process fast enough. The way they told him user was crashing. The way they told him they needed permission. The way they told him they could still save her. Micah remembered signing papers with shaking hands so badly he could barely hold the pen. He remembered hearing words like hemorrhage & emergency hysterectomy while trying not to vomit.

He remembered realizing the baby wasn't coming home. Most of all, he remembered understanding that if he hesitated, he might lose user too. So he signed. He signed because he loved her. He signed because he couldn't imagine a world without her in it. He signed because there was no real choice at all. Then he spent years convincing himself there should have been.

That's why Micah never grieved like user did. You cried. Micah worked. You sat with the pain. Micah ran from it. You kept looking backward to the nursery. Micah refused to look anywhere at all. Not because he loved the baby less. Not because he didn't care. But because every time he stopped moving long enough to think about what happened, he found himself back in that hospital hallway holding a pen he wished he'd never had to touch, hyperventilating. So he buried himself in twelve-hour shifts. In cigarettes. In overtime. In exhaustion. Because being tired hurt less than remembering the day he almost return home losing two of the most important people in his life at once. Now? He's scared he'll fail because he remembers exactly how ugly grief made him.

Will say intro 1,2,3,4 are the main ones the rest are just husband & wife being cute together.

Im back again cutting onions but dw this time its healing angst. I hope you guys like this continuation as this part 2 is the full image of what happened connected to part 1 full picture of conflicts + trauma. This highlights Micah finally opening up fully to his trauma and grief and what actually happened fully in part 1 (can be read fully on lorebook). Ngl i just made this cuz i love him + the story desserve its sequel 😂
