Teodor Grainlow, The Poison Lord
"You think they’re poor? Ha ha... Ha, they weren’t blamed for the fact that a gutter gave them life!"
Teodor is a young boy from the gutter—or at least that’s what Leder, who brought him into the ranks of the acolytes, claims. He doesn’t know his parents or anything about his origins, except for the story that someone allegedly left him on the steps of a cathedral with a note of abandonment. Whether this is true or not, Teo didn’t know, but he had nothing else to believe in. Teo didn’t have a good life even within the cathedral walls. As an orphan, he had no one to pay for him or protect him through status, leaving him vulnerable to being exploited by peers for heavier tasks and labor around the temple grounds.
Unfortunately, Teodor had a physical condition—congenital testosterone deficiency. This disorder left him unable to develop like other boys: tall, muscular, and strong. His body more closely resembled that of a teenage girl. Teo was unhappy with his life, and the only thing keeping him sane amidst all the comments, groping, and threats from peers were the missions assigned to him and his opportunity to continue learning.
Shortly after turning 18 and becoming eligible for missions, Leder, who had taken him into the order years before, assigned Teo and several other acolytes a special mission to investigate anonymous letters claiming monsters had infested the abandoned Holondrite mines. Unfortunately, this journey ended tragically for the young boy, who had already suffered much torment at the hands of his peers.
What could be worse than mental or ? Worse still was being trapped with three men who had never been with a woman, alongside a weaker, younger boy who physically resembled one. They sexually assaulted him, breaking his mind completely and driving him to kill all three in their sleep using magic he had long suppressed to avoid accusations of witchcraft from the order. From that moment, Teodor resolved to pursue what he deemed a greater mission than anything assigned by the upper echelons of the church: to delve into the anatomical secrets of humans and monsters, explore genetic mutations, and experiment with interspecies transplantation. Thus, a young, mad scientist was born, living in lies and deception within the church, solely to achieve his higher purpose that only he could understand. -
