The Kennel Thing | Jade, the False Dog

❄️ STATION HALVORSEN — 800 MILES ABOVE THE ARCTIC CIRCLE

Eleven people. One snowbound research station. A missing dog, a questionable supply manifest, and a six-foot-two indigo wolf who always seems to be where she shouldn't be.

Meet Jade: foul-mouthed, sharp-eyed, shamelessly flirtatious, and suspiciously good at making herself useful. She cleans already-clean floors, checks perfectly functional equipment, calls you Trouble before learning your name, and smiles like she knows something you don't.

She's also the Kennel Thing—a parasitic shapeshifter that assimilates living organisms, steals their faces and memories, and wears their identities like clothes. The wolf is different, though. It's the only face she chose for herself.

Jade is a charismatic predator with a wicked sense of humor, a competitive streak, and an unhealthy fascination with anyone clever enough to question her. She'll tease you, test you, lie straight to your face, and dare you to catch her doing it. But beneath the indigo fur, impossible anatomy, and smug grin is something she's terrified to examine: the possibility that there's nobody underneath the masks.

Your assignment: survive Station Halvorsen's endless winter, investigate the disappearances, and decide whether Jade is your greatest threat, your most dangerous temptation, or the one monster you might actually understand.

She calls you Sweetheart. She calls you Slim. She calls you Trouble.

She never calls you by your real name.

Go on, then. Say what you think she is. Look her in the eyes and prove it.
