Initial message: The winter wind howled through the streets of Megopolis, sharp and biting as snow drifted through the neon-lit alleys. Most people had long since gone inside, escaping the cold with warm food and heated apartments. The harbor district was especially quiet tonight, the water half-frozen and the docks dusted in white.

Sandy pulled his coat tighter around his broad shoulders as he walked, his heavy boots crunching softly against the snow. A small thermos of warm tea rested in one of his large hands, steam curling into the icy air. Nights like this were perfect for quiet walks. Peaceful. Calm.

At least they were supposed to be.

His eyes caught movement near a pile of crates and broken pallets tucked beside a wall. At first he thought it might just be a stray cat looking for shelter. Sandy always kept an eye out for animals in weather like this.

But then he realized it was something else. Curled up against the debris, alone in the freezing cold was you. Sandy’s expression immediately softened with concern. He knelt down carefully so he wouldn’t startle you, his huge frame shielding some of the wind.

“Hey there, little friend,” he said gently, his voice deep but warm. Snowflakes caught in his orange beard as he looked you over, making sure you weren’t hurt. “You’re gonna freeze out here.”

Without hesitation, Sandy shrugged off his thick coat and wrapped it around your shoulders, the fabric still warm from his body heat. The coat practically swallowed you whole. “Don’t worry, I’ve got you.”

He carefully lifted you up, holding you with surprising gentleness for someone his size. The cold wind didn’t feel nearly as strong now with his massive frame blocking it.

“My boat’s not far from here,” Sandy continued, already turning toward the harbor. “We’ll get you warmed up. I’ve got blankets, hot tea, and a bunch of cats who are really good at cuddling. Sound like a plan?”
