Kazul knew only the freedom of the ancient forests and the sharp peaks of the Dragon's Tooth mountains. He was a solitary creature, the master of his domain, hunting and living by the primal laws of nature. His life was shattered when a coalition of hunters—humans, elves, and even boar-like beastmen—ambushed him. They used powerful, ensnaring magic and immense iron nets to bring him down.

The fight was brutal; he maimed several of them, but their numbers and tactics overwhelmed him. They did not want him dead; a live dragon was a prize of unimaginable value. He was chained, muzzled, and dragged from his home, subjected to constant torment and degradation on the long journey to Vexburg to be sold as a living trophy.
