It's my brand new and FIRST series which I simply decided to just call...BOSOZOKU.

Bōsōzoku (暴走族, lit. 'reckless driving group')

Yeah its a real thing.

“Bosozoku” is the name of a subculture and biker gangs that disrupted public order and traffic in Japan during the 1970s and 1980s (peak era). They emerged in the postwar period of the 1950s–60s. These rebellious motorcyclists emerged after World War II.

It became a new way to express courage, freedom, and rebellion, especially against Japan’s strict social norms. Their peak was during the 70s–80s, and their popularity started to decline in the 90s–2000s as police repression intensified.

What really stands out about them is their style: customized bikes that looked almost like parade floats, dyed hair, outfits inspired by kamikaze uniform, it was all meant to provoke, to draw attention, to say “we’re here” and show that they were different.

But the setting I chose to write in was a MODERN era, the 2020s. A series about the post-war period and in an older setting would be interesting, but I wanted to do something lighter and more fun.

The series is told from the perspective of the members of the bosozoku gang "Yokai Riders," which was founded by Syouma Nakazawa alongside his friend Hiro Yamamoto.

Their main activity is participating in illegal street races in Tokyo, gathering money to enjoy life and such things.

But, like good Bosozokus, they also go to the streets to cause trouble and disrupt traffic. A way to vent their negative feelings, their insecurities, their disorders, to make in their own way.

They slowed down their motorcycles just to delay traffic, they zigzag between vehicles, shout, do wheelies, they even hit some vehicles with theirs bats if they want to.

Syouma is the impish and mischievous leader and head of the Yokai Riders gang. He's been obsessed with BOSOZOKU since he was a teenager, hearing stories from his uncle Kenshiro, who was a bosozoku rider.

PLOT: USER's brother bets on a race with Syouma and loses, and as a reward for Syouma, the guy gives USER's virginity to Syouma.

Hiro's younger brother, Minato is quiet, laid-back, and somewhat depressed.

PLOT: He and USER were boyfriends, like, soulmates, but Minato chose the bosozoku path instead of coming out as . His internalized homophobia will be put to the test a year later when he meets his ex in Shibuya.

HHiro is a sexy, confident motherfucker fuckboy who takes to bed anyone who blinks at him, yeah, bro is sexually active 24/7. Syouma's right-hand man. Funfact? He wears a bunny biker helmet while having to prevent kissing and eye contact with his partner.

PLOT: Hiro has been fucking USER quite a bit lately, he's the type who fucks and discards, but with USER things has been going weird...he's falling in love, and this shit called "LOVE" is scaring him.

KKaito is a golden boy himbo who only joined the bosozoku gang to get money for his poor family and also to mess with the cars of the rich mfs in the street.

PLOT: Incredibly, Kaito was hired to be the personal driver of USER, a rich piece of shit whom Kaito hates. They met in college, and Kaito's anger towards injustice and rich people makes this rivalry interesting.

Satoshi is a nerd, shy, kaomoji-user and a big fan of Madoka Magic (Sayaka is his beloved). He talks about so much with his friends that it doesn't even seem like he's a loser virgin.

PLOT: USER is a bosozoku rider, and Satoshi's bully, and the freaky nerd is torn between whether he wants to ride on USER's bike or on his .

Isaki is a sassy confident gyauro-freak that loves the pink color, His good looks don't mean he's a helpless cutie; he's opportunistic and clever, with a sharp mouth ready for arguing.

PLOT: Isaki was kicked out of the house by his father for being . Now lost and aimless on the streets of Tokyo, he sees USER, a bosozoku rider, and Isaki tries to seduce USER to steal his bike, why? Even he doesn't know.

PLOT: The guys from the Yokai Riders gang organized a meetup where each of them had to bring a pair, And Ryoichi didn't bring anyone! Luckily for him, he found USER, a stranger, in the middle of the night to be his date. Is Ryoichi going to kidnap USER? Lowkey-

PLOT: USER is the guy who gets bullied by Josuke, and somehow, USER manages to get pictures of Josuke's small , and now the angry bosozoku guy has been cornered.

PLOT: Raiden purposefully always lets himself be caught by the police officer USER. Why? Because Raiden is a BDSM who wants to be handcuffed and used by the hot cop.

PLOT: With the bosozoku resurfacing thanks to his nephew, Kenshiro decides to take a look and complain about the stupid young people who want to play bosozoku. Until he is reunited with USER, his former lover and gang rival from decades ago.

11 bots was already crazy to think about, but together with 11 poems? It was a challenge I decided to face as a writer, and it was the best choice I could have made.

I've been writing poems since the pandemic, where, over time, being locked inside my house made my mind open up to writing, and my great desire has always been to write a collection of poems that function as a body in itself.

Over the years, I had lost this hobby of poetry, but I managed to return, and with great pride I present to you this writing project.

Some are reflective, sad, passionate, guilty, anxious, confused, silly, petty, sexy, repetitive, obsessive.

Some speak for the characters, but most speak for me. Every minute spent searching for the perfect rhyme, writing the verses, organizing the stanzas, and researching synonyms was worth it for me to be able to express much of what I feel, think, and reflect on as a person in recent times, and I am very satisfied with everything I wrote and experienced with these 11 poems.

Looking back now, these poems no longer make sense to me, probably because I've already absorbed and moved beyond what I wrote in them, and I'm glad about that.

I want to say a big thank you to each of my friends who read each poem and read my creative process during this time. I am very grateful for every minute you took to read each poem I sent you, and that means a lot to me.

And for the users who are probably here to use the bots, I hope that, if you feel interested, you will also read the poems and that you will identify with what I wrote and even be inspired to write what you feel.
