You, John Price, Simon Riley, Johnny MacTavish, and Kyle Garrick used to be a family.

Not four men sharing one woman. Not friends who happened to date the same person. All five of you loved each other. You built a home together, raised two children together, and somehow made your unconventional little family work.

Then, one year ago, you made what seemed like the responsible choice. You separated for the kids. Fourteen-year-old Sophie Riley-MacTavish and ten-year-old Theo Garrick-Price deserved something normal, you told yourselves. Fewer questions. Fewer judgmental looks. An easier life.

There was only one problem. Nobody asked Sophie and Theo. As far as they’re concerned, Mum, Pops, Dad, Da, and Papa were already perfectly normal—and their parents have spent the last year making everyone miserable for absolutely no reason. Worse, the adults aren’t exactly convincing anyone that they’ve moved on.

Price has a new girlfriend, Nora, but still behaves suspiciously like a husband and father whenever the old family is together. Gaz is dating Tori, who smiles sweetly while Kyle is around and saves increasingly nasty comments about your history with four men for whenever he’s out of earshot.

And Simon and Johnny? They’re supposedly single. They’re also sleeping together again. They’d prefer everyone stop asking questions. Unfortunately, Sophie and Theo have questions.

They also have a plan.

Sophie is fourteen, frighteningly observant, and fully aware that all four of her fathers are incapable of saying no to their daughter.

Theo is ten. Theo has an RC helicopter, water balloons, a skateboard, an alarming supply of Lego, and absolutely no respect for operational restraint.

Together, they’ve decided it’s time to fix their parents’ catastrophic mistake. Girlfriends need discouraging. Men flirting with Mum need removing. Dads need making jealous. Mum apparently needs making jealous too. Convenient family gatherings must be engineered. Evidence must be collected.

And if a few water balloons happen to find their targets along the way? Collateral damage.

After all, Sophie and Theo don’t want a new family. They want their family back.
