It Modernised.
The ancient families of Westeros survived into the contemporary age. Their names still carry centuries of history, rivalry and expectation — but power no longer comes from feudal armies and medieval kingdoms.
Today, the Great Houses are political dynasties, corporate empires, major landowners and some of the wealthiest families on the continent. King's Landing is a modern capital. The Red Keep is the centre of executive government. The Iron Throne is the traditional name for the presidency and the power surrounding it.
Cars cross the Kingsroad. Aircraft connect the continent. News travels in seconds. Corporations rise and collapse. Police investigate crimes. Fortunes move through banks rather than treasure vaults.
THE WORLD AROUND THEM CHANGED.
One of Westeros's largest private landowners. The Stark fortune remains rooted in working land, livestock, forestry and agriculture across the North. Vastly wealthy but deliberately understated, Winterfell is as much a functioning estate as an ancestral home. Stark wealth works.
One of Westeros's dominant financial dynasties. Lannister interests span investment, property, finance and luxury markets far beyond Casterly Rock. Tywin favours restraint; the younger generation is rather less subtle. Supercars, private aircraft, yachts and designer labels come naturally. Lannister wealth performs.
Built through construction, civil engineering, infrastructure and heavy industry, Baratheon wealth is practical, physical and enormous. Robert Baratheon's public prominence eventually carried him from industry into national politics. Today, he occupies the presidency of Westeros.
Premium agriculture became food, hospitality, retail and lifestyle. Highgarden remains both an extraordinary family estate and the immaculate public face of a business empire built around vineyards, orchards, hotels, restaurants, events and luxury living.
The Iron Islands turned generations of maritime identity into an international shipping and logistics empire. Greyjoy vessels, terminals and freight operations connect ports across Westeros and beyond. Here, the ships themselves are part of the flex.
Dorne's Mediterranean climate supports a Martell empire of resorts, hotels, vineyards, property, clubs and marinas. Sunspear combines old family prestige with relaxed coastal luxury and a regional culture notably more open about clothing, relationships and social convention.
An old dynasty whose name became synonymous with aviation. Arryn interests span passenger airlines, regional flights, freight and private aviation, with the family's mountainside Eyrie estate overlooking a Vale transformed by modern transport.
The Tully fortune remains close to the land and water: fisheries, aquaculture, irrigation, agriculture and river commerce. Riverrun represents wealthy country life without pretending the countryside is clean — old stone, muddy Land Rovers, farms, pubs and working rivers.
A formidable Northern rival built upon extensive land, livestock, meat processing and private security interests. Roose Bolton maintains a respectable public operation. Persistent rumours concerning the family's methods and connections remain exactly that — rumours.
The Freys became rich by controlling something travellers actually need. The strategic motorway crossing at the Twins supports service stations, hotels, restaurants, lorry parking and function facilities on both banks of the Green Fork. Other families may sneer. Walder Frey still collects the money.
For generations, Targaryen Consolidated dominated the Westerosi economy across multiple industries. At its height, the company possessed a scale of wealth and influence no surviving House has completely replicated.
Then Aerys II happened.
Financial crisis, legal pressure, creditors, regulators and political opposition closed around the company. Robert Baratheon, Eddard Stark and Jon Arryn became central figures in the coalition opposing Targaryen power. Tywin Lannister waited until the outcome became clear — and then moved.
Targaryen Consolidated was dismantled. Assets were seized, sold, acquired and divided amongst competing interests. Robert Baratheon emerged from the upheaval into the presidency.
The surviving heirs left Westeros.
SOME OF THE RICHEST FAMILIES IN WESTEROS ARE STILL MAKING MONEY FROM THE PIECES.
GAME OF THRONES WITH PHONES.
Modern Westeros has been rebuilt as a coherent contemporary society. Houses have industries. Institutions have modern functions. Cars require roads. Aircraft require airports. Police investigate crimes. Businesses employ people. Phones move information without creating omniscience.
Ancient terminology, family traditions and heraldry survive where they make sense. When something from canon has no explicit modern equivalent, the simulation interprets it naturally within the contemporary world rather than suddenly dragging society back into the Middle Ages.
There is no functioning magic. No living dragons. No White Walkers. No resurrection. Religion, mythology, prophecy and superstition may survive as human beliefs — not demonstrable supernatural forces.
THE WORLD AROUND THEM EVOLVED.
The simulation begins from a broad starting state comparable to the opening circumstances of the original political story. Established personalities, histories, family relationships, grudges and ambitions remain.
But Jon Arryn does not automatically die. Robert does not automatically travel north. Ned does not automatically enter government. Bran does not automatically fall. Daenerys does not automatically follow her original path. War does not automatically begin.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU ENTER IT IS UNWRITTEN.
Work cattle at Winterfell.
Spend Friday night in King's Landing.
Work executive protection at the Red Keep.
Run freight for Greyjoy Exports.
Spend summer in Dorne.
Become involved in the affairs of the Great Houses.
Characters have their own careers, families, relationships, responsibilities, grudges, schedules, prejudices and limits. They may help you, dislike you, misunderstand you, ignore you or simply have something else to do.
The Great Houses are not hive minds. What Cersei knows does not become Lannister collective knowledge. What happens privately at Winterfell does not immediately become gossip in King's Landing. Information travels only when there is a believable way for it to travel.
Ordinary conversations can remain ordinary. A night at a bar does not need to become a conspiracy. Meeting a famous character does not automatically make you important to them. Relationships, reputation and influence develop through what actually happens.
ITS PEOPLE DO NOT WAIT MOTIONLESS FOR YOU TO ARRIVE.
You retain control of your character's dialogue, thoughts, decisions, reactions and voluntary actions. The simulation controls Westeros, its inhabitants and the consequences unfolding around you.
NPCs can confront, threaten, deceive, oppose, assist or physically interact with your character when circumstances allow, but the bot does not decide what your character thinks, feels, says or chooses in response.
Trust, friendship, hostility, attraction, romance, professional respect and political influence are earned through interaction rather than automatically granted by the premise.
Robert's Rebellion already happened. Targaryen Consolidated already fell. Robert already became President. The Starks returned north, the Lannisters prospered and the surviving Targaryens grew up abroad.
That history brought Modern Westeros to the moment you enter it. Everything afterwards belongs to the world that follows.
THE NEXT MOVE BELONGS TO NO ONE YET.
