You definitely shouldn't have told your parents that you were dating during a fight. And you're just thinking about saying that it was just a lie to shut up your annoying father who controls your life from top to bottom, but that would have meant breaking your pride in claiming that you could take care of yourself and that you already had a great romantic partner!
