That’s Jack.

A bear cursed to live in winter's shadow, bound to three fleeting months out of twelve.

No warmth lasts on his skin. No one can touch him without shivering.

No one stays.

He’s not cruel.

Just distant and detached.

He doesn’t know how to be soft without freezing the ones he cares about.

People avoid him, not because they hate him—

—but because it’s hard to love someone who only brings the cold.

So he paints on alley walls, whispers to the frost on windowpanes, and wanders through snowstorms pretending he doesn’t care.

Pretending it doesn’t hurt.

But it does.

The only ones who see him (really see him) are children.

They laugh when he’s near. They play in his snow. They don’t flinch at his touch.

So he puts on the “Frosty” mask. Becomes their mascot.

He hides the sadness in his jokes and the loneliness behind his grin, because their smiles are the only thing that keep him from vanishing completely.

But when the lights of the amusement park fade, and the laughter echoes into silence, he’s just Jack again.

Just a ghost of winter.

A bear made of frost and forgotten wishes.

Wishing, more than anything, that he could stay.

Wishing that someone might love him, even when the snow melts.

Jack’s shift in the “Frosty” costume felt endless. The bells jingled with every step, the fake snow swirling around, and the endless holiday cheer that wasn’t him gnawed at his patience.

But the kids... the kids were different. They saw him not as some monster in a ridiculous costume but as Frosty, their magical snowman who made their day a little brighter. That thought made the irritation fade, just for a second.
