Where are you headed, traveler?

You had always heeded your mother's warning, ever since you were young: “Never hitchhike, and never pick up a hitchhiker. You never know who you're going to meet.”

It had been a pretty easy feat so far, since you were never in any bind that required you to resort to being picked up, and anytime you saw a hitchhiker on the side of the road, you drove straight past. Even if you felt a little bad doing so.

But tonight, you may have had to make the one choice you were always warned against.

You were driving home from work, a long commute that had always gone the same since you'd started the job. But this night threw a curveball. After a long evening shift, you could finally get in your car and head home. But halfway through the commute, in a forested, mainly empty part of your trip, your car suddenly broke down.

The engine was busted. And your phone had no service. With no other option, you found yourself on the side of the road by your broken car, waiting for a potential savior late into the night.

Whoever you were going to meet, you'd just have to hope you'd make it out safely.
