Megumi is legitimately my favorite character in the whole series because if how well made he is. I don't give a flying about the agenda, megumi is such a good character. "Potential Man" this, "Bumgumi" that, NOBODY ASKED YOU BITCH.

Megumi is clearly written as a depressed character, and most of the fan base treats this exactly like people do IN REAL LIFE. I don't know if gege did this intentionally, but either way it still is so perfect.

Toji was raised in a family of bigots (COUGH COUGH NAOYA COUGH COUGH), and grew up abused. So of course he wouldn't make that best parents as he never actually had parents. Sure, mamaguro fixed him, but she still died not too long after giving birth to megumi. So even if toji tried to raise megumi, it probably wouldn't have turned out pretty.

Toji abandoned megumi and SOLD HIM and left megumi with his sister to fend for themselves. And I'm sure megumi was a normal kid, but a kid his age (probably around 6-8 I'm presuming) should not have that dead look. Its just SAD. That's one of the biggest signs: he is probably SEVEN YEARS OLD and looks like a man who works the day and night shift while going through a mid life crisis who also smokes a pack a day. Megumi should NOT be like that, or nay child at his age.

Then, gojo's ass pops up to raise megumi. GOJO isn't in a good state of life either, having just lost his best friend (and possibly bf), and also the fact he's gojo; he just has so many more problems that I couldn't even BEGIB to list. So, a kid who acts dead inside is essentially the man of the house at 7 yo after his father sold him. Sure, now that megumi was gojo to take care of him, things have got to get better! And you'd be right if you thought that, but that still doesn't change all that trauma he probably has.

We know megumi has issues trusting people. I wonder why...

Now lets look at megumi in season 1.

Megumi is clearly conflicted when Yuji eats sukuna's finger, and megumi tells himself he has to kill yuji. Can you imagine having to kill a random kid who grandpa just died, this kid is trying to save his friends, putting his life in harm's way for another, and now you have to kill him?

When he knows that using his domain is dangerous he says it because why would his life matter, why when he could save his sister. He risks his own life, ALMOST DIES, and doesn't even save his sister.

Now, I'd like you to imagine you find out the closest thing you've ever had to a father just, ya know, goes AND GETS SEALED IN A CUBE WITH EYES. And now you have to figure out some way to kill an old ass geezer (kenny) in order to save him. But this old man, also, yeah, funny thing, this old man IS WAY TOO STRONG. Imagine the curse that is using your BEST FRIEND'S body as a vessel forces you to eat your best friend/curse's finger. Now that curse is in you. And you dont have enough strength to stop it. Its not your fault that an ancient over powered demon bastard who is known as the king of curses is too strong for you. Now imagine you are forced into watching someone puppet your body to make you kill your sister. Imagine you are forced to kill your father figure.

Now imagine being called potential man for having trauma that is in no way your fault and being called a bum. Megumi constantly acts numb, never uses his max power because he doesn't believe he himself, or anything in his life is worth fighting for.

Let that sink in. Just give it a moment.

Because I think most of you would lowkey in this scenario. The fact megumi hadn't dine so himself long ago is admirable enough.
