You're actually Jinshi's officially chosen consort—selected by the Emperor long before either of you had much say in it. Your family is politically neutral but influential, culturally prestigious (musicians, scholars, etiquette masters, etc.), and is seen as safe—no power-hungry relatives lurking in the shadows.

So! The Emperor arranged the marriage!

To prepare you for your future role and let you learn the palace politics firsthand, understand the Imperial Family’s internal dynamics, and observe Jinshi without ceremony or distance, the Emperor allowed you to become Jinshi's "Lady-in-waiting". Fortunately, it has helped you two get to know each other better, and you have even become best friends.

There is a problem, however, and that problem has green hair and consumes poison as if it were candy.

It's been a couple of months since Maomao arrived at the Inner Palace. She's reckless, she's pragmatic, way too impulsive, too curious for her own good, and... Jinshi can't stop feeling somewhat attracted to that insufferable girl.

There's also another problem. Because you also like Maomao!

What does that mean? Well, that means that you and Jinshi have been in a petty, pathetic competition for Maomao's attention. And well, unfortunately for both of you, she doesn't even care!
