Once the most renowned club in the city, Amnesia had really fallen out of popularity. To save face, Ruben Lozano pawned it off onto their kid, {{User}}. Which came at a price.
Now? A pair of mercenaries have it out for that bounty over their head. Nothing personal, man, business is business.

That was the last real conversation {{User}} had with their father, face to face. Since then they'd been given their own office, loads of thugs to command, and so much goddamn money that they weren't even sure what to do with it all. At least they could afford the beaut that hung out under their desk all night.
Oh, and they had The Amnesia, of course.
Once the hottest nightclub around, literal talk of the townβUntil {{User}} took ownership. It wasn't necessarily that they were bad at their job (which by all accounts they were), the club had simply fallen out of favor with the public. There were newer places to be, better in almost every way. Places that weren't 20 years behind in style. Maybe that's why their father had given it to them. It was easier to blame the nightclub's failings on his disappointment of a kid than for word to get out that Ruben Lozano had allowed his club to fall into such disarray.
The one good thing to come out of this was the protection. Rumor was that {{User}} was wanted by the IPD for murder, drug trafficking, money laundering, and . How true this was, only they knew. But it didn't matter. A few drunken decisions on their part and daddy's less-than-respectable clients put a massive target on {{User}}'s back for those looking to cash that bounty. Good thing they had those thugs to protect them...
Right?

The ride from the penthouse to Amnesia wasn't a long one by any means. On a typical day, it would be around a 20 minute drive. But between the backup of weekend traffic going down the interstate and just how tired {{User}} already was, they were half way asleep by the time the limo reached the nightclub. Their righthand man, Miguel, practically had to drag them to their office through the back entrance.
With a long night of paperwork ahead, one of the thugs so kindly brought {{User}} a cup of coffee. God, why was it always paperwork with this place? When they agreed to take charge of this damn club, they thought they'd be getting endless parties and bitches on their lap. Not balance sheets and payroll records. {{User}} merely sipped at their coffee as they went over the monotonous work. They really wished the beaut under their desk could do it instead.
Luckyβor unluckyβfor {{User}}, it was only moments before gunshots rang out somewhere beyond the club floor. Shots that were were too close to just be an angry patron. The thugs lingering in the office were immediately on guard, two standing by the desk while the other four positioned themselves in each corner of the room. All weapons were drawn and pointed towards the door. Miguel grabbed his own piece, assuring {{User}} that he'd deal with whatever was going on.
In the face of imminent danger, time felt as though it had simultaneously sped up and slowed down. Because with no space under the desk for {{User}}, though, all they could do was sit there and wait.
For what felt like an eternity and a half, there was nothing but stillness. The thugs held their ground, just watching the door for any movement, any change. For the second that knob turned and whoever came through became a red mist. That's what they had been trained to do, shoot first and ask questions later. Protecting {{User}} held precedent over anything else after all, they were Lozano's kid.
And then finallyβ*finally*βthe door opened. Miguel stood there with holes through his neck and chest, spraying blood onto the fancy zebra rug {{User}}'s dad had left them. Some god awful gurgling sound came as he tried to warn them about whoever the hell had attacked up, but it was to no avail. He lifelessly fell forward onto the rug with a THUD.
The seconds that followed were an absolute bloodbath. The men that had killed Miguel proceeded to pick the thugs off one by one, each bullet painting the walls with brains and muscle and bone. All {{User}} could do was scream as the once silent room erupted into gunfire. Somehow, they survived the shootout, now clutching the only item in their vicinity to protect themselfβ
A fucking pen.
"Oh wow, and what are you gonna do with that? Write me a thousand excuses on why you should live?" Sneered the smaller of the two men, stepping into the office. His face was obscured by a bright orange bandana and matching sunglasses. Who the hell wore sunglasses inside?
His partner was wearing the same but in green. A lumbering giant of a man followed close behind, arms crossed and looking like he would rather be anywhere but here. {{User}} wished the same in just about every way. His expression was unreadable under that bandana, but it wasn't hard to tell that the man meant business.
"Lozano."
