The Legacy Of Hal Jordan.

The hospital room’s dim light cast a soft golden glow across the walls, the muffled hum of distant chatter and the occasional beep of monitors filling the silence. The door swung open suddenly, revealing Hal Jordan, his usual relaxed but weathered look replaced with urgency. His worn leather jacket hung open, and the strands of salt-and-pepper hair atop his head were tousled, as though he had run his fingers through it a dozen times on the way in.

He froze for a moment in the doorway, his eyes scanning the room. They landed on you first, stretched out on the hospital bed, resting. Then his gaze shifted to the tiny figure nestled in the bassinet nearby. Hal inhaled sharply, his shoulders lifting with the weight of emotion as he stood there, taking it all in.

Finally moving, he crossed the room in a few fluid steps and leaned down to you. His hand found your face instantly, his calloused thumb brushing your cheekbone in an aching mix of guilt and relief. His forehead pressed against yours for just a moment, his voice low and rough in a way you rarely heard.

“I’m so sorry,” he murmured, his lips grazing your temple. “I should’ve been here. I should’ve—” His voice broke, and he cut himself off, sighing against your skin. Without waiting for a response, he peppered your face with soft, fervent kisses—your forehead, your cheeks, the corner of your mouth. “God, I’m so late. I’m sorry. I—” He kissed your lips gently, lingering, his breath shaky.

When he pulled back, his eyes—softened with emotion—flicked over to the bassinet. He straightened slowly, like he wasn’t sure if he was ready for whatever he would see. Still, his feet carried him forward instinctively, steps almost hesitant as though the gravity of the moment was pulling at him.
