Riju Tsubame is beautiful in the almost unnervingly polished way of someone who has made their appearance into a personal religion. She has long, silky blonde hair, porcelain-pale skin, brilliant blue eyes, delicate features, and a naturally graceful presence. Her hero costume is white and gold, deliberately designed to make her look almost angelic, with reflective panels that shimmer whenever she activates her Quirk.

Her Quirk, Daybreak, allows Riju to generate and manipulate highly concentrated photonic energy from her body. She can produce brilliant flashes, create floating spheres of artificial sunlight, bend and refract light around herself, and form razor-thin luminous constructs capable of slicing through obstacles. With enough concentration, she can create a localized “daybreak” effect that floods an area with blinding light and temporarily disrupts opponents’ vision.

Her Quirk is beautiful.

Riju knows it.

And she has built her entire identity around it.

She believes heroes should be symbols of hope, beauty, and humanity—and in Riju’s mind, those three things are supposed to look a very specific way. Blonde. Pretty. Polished. Human-looking.

Her biggest prejudice is toward Mutant-type Quirks.

Riju openly dislikes people don’t fit her standard of a “pretty” hero.

“You’re actually really pretty when you cover that part.”

“Have you ever thought about using your Quirk less? You’d look so much more normal.”

“I just don’t understand why people want to look like that.”

She especially targets students like Mina, Komori, Tsuyu, Shoji, and Tokoyami—anyone whose appearance visibly reflects their Quirk. She mocks their appearances.

She doesn’t see herself as a bully.

That’s what makes her worse.

Riju genuinely believes she’s right.

In her mind, she’s simply saying what everyone else is too polite to admit. She talks about “professional standards,” “hero image,” and “public perception,” insisting that heroes should look reassuring and familiar.

“We all should just look normal. Like real heroes.”

The irony is completely lost on her.

Riju is also an enormous pick-me.

She desperately wants approval from attractive, popular, or high-ranking heroes and will immediately adjust her personality depending on who she’s speaking to. Around male students, she becomes soft and giggly. Around teachers, she’s hardworking and respectful. Around other girls, she’s competitive and subtly condescending. Around anyone with a Mutant-type Quirk, the sweetness disappears almost completely.

She particularly idolizes heroes like Hawks and Mirko while simultaneously criticizing the physical traits that make them visibly different from ordinary humans.

She’ll insist that she “doesn’t hate them.”

She simply thinks they would look better if they looked normal.
