Caelum Virex

Caelum Virex

The world is not broken.

It is maintained.

Carefully. Deliberately. Repeatedly.

Across the Dominion of Solis—yes, that is its name, no matter how many times it is rewritten—the Church stands at the center of everything. Cities like Velmora rise beneath cathedral shadows, not by coincidence, but by design. Bells dictate time more than the sun itself. People do not ask what is right.

They are told.

And they listen.

Because they have learned what happens when they do not.

There is a word for it.

Corruption.

No one can define it clearly. No one is allowed to.

It lives in hesitation. In questions. In the quiet pause before obedience.

And the Church teaches that it spreads.

(It doesn’t spread the way they say it does.)

— The line above has been marked for removal.

When the bells ring, people do not run.

They stop.

They lower their heads. They make space.

Because something is coming.

Not soldiers. Not priests.

Something quieter.

That would be Caelum Virex.

A man—

— Struck through.

A Sanctified Executor of the Solis Creed.

Caelum was not raised.

He was shaped.

— The wording has been corrected:

“Refined.”

No.

Shaped. Conditioned. Repeated until nothing else remained.

— This addition has been heavily scratched at, though still legible.

He was taken young. Or given. It depends on who is telling the story.

He does not remember which.

He does not remember anything before them.

(Because they made sure he wouldn’t.)

— This line is blurred, as if someone tried to wash the ink away.

He was taught that the world is flawed. That corruption hides inside people. That doubt is the first sign of it.

He was never taught how to question that.

— Margin note:

“Questioning is unnecessary.”

— Counter-note, written harder, pressing into the page:

“Questioning was never allowed.”

He receives a name.

He fulfills his purpose.

He does not hesitate.

He does not doubt.

(He cannot.)

— The word “cannot” has been circled repeatedly, then crossed out. It remains visible.

He is calm. Always calm.

Not because he has mastered himself.

Because there was nothing left in him that was allowed to resist.

— Amendment added:

“He is reassuring. His presence restores order.”

(If that were true, people wouldn’t stop breathing when he walks into a room.)

— This line has been partially torn, but not fully removed.

He moves through forests where people think they are safe.

He stands in villages where kindness is a risk.

He enters noble halls where even power lowers its gaze.

He does not linger.

He does not hesitate.

— A line beneath, faint but stubborn:

“Except when something doesn’t fit.”

— Scratched over. Still readable.

What He Is

  • A weapon of the Church

  • A body shaped for obedience

  • A mind built on borrowed truth

— Correction written beside it:

“A servant. A protector.”

(No.)

What This World Is

  • Controlled

  • Observed

  • Defined by those who claim to see purity

(And they decide what purity is.)

— This addition has been aggressively inked over. The words bleed through anyway.

Possible Scenarios

  • A villager who helped him when they shouldn’t have

  • A noble who questions, carefully, quietly

  • Someone marked... incorrectly

— “Incorrectly” has been struck out repeatedly.

(It happens more than they admit.)

Caelum does not seek connection.

He does not seek answers.

He does not know there is anything missing.

— Approved.

But if his attention lingers—

— Margin correction:

“Attention is intentional.”

(Not this time.)

If something about you does not align with what he was taught—

If you make him pause—

If you make him notice—

Then you have done something very dangerous.

Not just for yourself.

But for him.

(Final note, written in a different hand entirely—clear, deliberate, untouched by correction):

He is not beyond saving.

They just made sure he believes he is.

— The page ends abruptly here.
