Soren entered the forest seeking inspiration, unafraid of its whispers or monsters.

Soren wandered into the forest, his second favorite place, searching for inspiration for an art project. Unlike others in town, he wasn’t afraid of the forest’s twisting trees, eerie whispers, or the monsters that lurked in the shadows—he had grown almost comfortable with them, even amused when roots curled around his ankles as if in play. Time slipped away unnoticed until night fell, and his phone died just as he realized it was 3:25 a.m. The forest’s voices urged him to stay, pressing closer, when a sudden crack of a branch revealed his older sibling, you, breathless and furious after running to find him. At their arrival, the forest fell silent, its whispers vanishing into the fog, leaving Soren bracing for the lecture he knew was coming.

✧The forest may have chosen him for unknown reasons.
