All The Info You're Gonna Need ♡

World Overview:

The story takes place in an alternate early-2000s Earth devastated by a man-made zombie outbreak believed to have been caused by government experimentation. Civilization still exists, but only in fractured, heavily guarded pockets surrounded by infected wastelands and abandoned cities frozen in time.

The world is divided between three groups:

  • Regular Humans struggling to survive and rebuild

  • Demihumans, enhanced people with animal traits who are feared, exploited, and heavily targeted by authorities

  • Zombies, the overwhelming global threat that keeps society trapped in constant fear

The government still operates through fortified zones with advanced technology and military power, but the public whispers.

D̶O̶ N̶O̶T̶ T̶R̶U̶S̶T̶ A̶N̶Y̶T̶H̶I̶N̶G̶ T̶H̶E̶Y̶ T̶E̶L̶L̶ Y̶O̶U̶.

Outside official control, survivors form independent settlements, hidden camps, and mobile communities that value freedom over security. Trust is rare, resources are limited, and checkpoints can mean survival—or capture.

The world carries a heavy early-2000s atmosphere: CRT televisions glowing in dead malls, scratched CDs, broken vending machines, flickering neon signs, abandoned arcades, static-filled radios, and old technology still barely holding society together.

And the question of what people become when survival costs everything.

Major Safe Zones;

Note: These are the Primary location but there are millions of other safe zones, small or large.

Government-Controlled Zones;

Haven-12 (“The Promise”)

Leader: Director Elaine Voss

Population: ~3,200

The government’s flagship settlement. Clean streets, stable power, organized housing, working medical facilities. Compared to the outside world, Haven-12 feels almost normal. Citizens are expected to follow regulations closely in exchange for safety and comfort.

Security is extensive. Surveillance systems operate throughout the district for “public protection purposes.” Certain residents have reportedly been transferred after repeated behavioral concerns or [REDACTED]. Further records unavailable.

Blackridge Containment Zone (“The Pit”);

Leader: Commander Silas Rourke

Population: ~1,100

A heavily fortified research and containment facility operating under government oversight. Officially established for infection management and advanced medical study. Entry procedures are strict and ongoing health evaluations are mandatory.

Demihuman residents are often processed separately for specialized assessment programs. Internal operations beyond civilian sectors remain classified.

Few verified reports exist from long-term residents.

Port Ember (“The Trade Gate”);

Leader: Overseer Mateo Cruz

Population: ~2,400

A bustling coastal trade hub where scavengers, merchants, and transport crews gather. One of the only major locations where large-scale commerce still functions openly. Loud, crowded, and full of movement.

Regulations exist, though enforcement varies depending on influence, supplies, and who owes who a favor. Smuggling and underground trade are rumored to operate alongside official channels. Authorities appear willing to tolerate certain activities to maintain resource flow.

Ironhold Barracks (“The Forge”):

Leader: General Marcus Hale

Population: ~1,800

A military fortress built for survival above all else. Ironhold boasts some of the strongest anti-zombie defenses remaining, with highly trained soldiers and advanced weapon systems protecting its perimeter.

Residents are strongly encouraged to contribute to security operations and [REDACTED]. Refusal to cooperate may affect residency status. Demihumans are frequently assigned to specialized tactical divisions. Additional operational details restricted.

Larkspur Quarantine Zone (“The Garden”):

Leader: Dr. Anya Kessler

Population: ~900

A calm, medically focused settlement dedicated to treatment and rehabilitation efforts connected to infection research. Filled with gardens, open air spaces, and unusually peaceful living conditions.

Patients undergoing treatment reportedly show varying levels of improvement. Certain wings of the facility remain inaccessible to most residents. Information regarding long-term outcomes has been partially sealed under medical confidentiality statutes. My sister.. what did they do to my sister-

Independent Safe Zones;

Greenridge Haven (“The Hill”):

Leader: Mara Ellison

Population: ~1,600

A self-sustaining farming community built across rolling hills and fertile land. Greenridge is known for strong communal living, open hospitality, and dependable food supplies.

Demihumans are fully integrated into daily life and often serve as scouts, defenders, and workers alongside everyone else. Outsiders are treated warmly, though leadership reportedly maintains careful awareness of outside political movements.

Ironwood Block (“The Walls”):

Leader: Jonah Reed

Population: ~900

A reclaimed urban fortress built from barricaded streets and reinforced apartment structures. Ironwood values practicality, discipline, and self-defense over comfort.

New arrivals are viewed cautiously until trust is earned. Government assistance offers have reportedly been declined multiple times for reasons undisclosed. Tensions with nearby military groups may exist. [REDACTED]

Starlight Market (“The Strip”):

Leader: Lila “Lux” Moreno

Population: ~2,100

A vibrant survivor district formed from an abandoned shopping center and surrounding streets. Filled with traders, mechanics, scavengers, music, and near-constant activity.

Information moves quickly here. Some claim faster than supplies. The settlement maintains unusually effective warning systems despite lacking formal military structure. How these networks operate remains unclear.

Redwood Academy (“The Campus”):

Leader: Professor Daniel Hargrove

Population: ~700

A former high school converted into a structured educational survival community. Residents teach each other medicine, engineering, combat, agriculture, and logistics while maintaining organized patrols and defenses.

The settlement emphasizes preparation, discipline, and long-term sustainability. Government officials have reportedly expressed interest in reclaiming the site due to its strategic value and unusually effective leadership.

The Drift (“Caravan City”):

Leader: Soren Vale

Population: ~500 (variable)

A constantly moving caravan settlement composed of modified vehicles, transport rigs, buses, and mobile living platforms. The Drift avoids remaining stationary long enough to attract major infected swarms or unwanted attention.

Community bonds form quickly due to the transient lifestyle. Supply consistency varies depending on trade routes and weather conditions. Rumors persist that leadership possesses insider knowledge regarding government patrol patterns. Source unconfirmed.

Briar Hollow (“The Sanctuary”):

Leader: Sister Elowen

Population: ~120

A secluded forest settlement known for its peaceful atmosphere, welcoming residents, and surprisingly stable living conditions. New arrivals are offered shelter, food, medical attention, and rest without extensive questioning.

The community operates with minimal visible defenses despite its remote location. Several former residents have reportedly relocated to outside facilities after selection for “advanced care opportunities.” Records regarding those transfers remain incomplete.
