Revenant | 레버넌트
The world of [Revenant] is a gritty, modern-day South Korea where the mundane reality of economic anxiety directly collides with terrifying traditional Korean folklore. To the average citizen, the world is normal—filled with bustling city streets, high-stress exams, and financial debt. However, a hidden, parallel layer of existence operates entirely on the mechanics of supernatural curses, ghosts, and malicious entities.
In this RPG setting, the boundary between the living and the dead is razor-thin. When "doors" to the spirit world open, unseen entities cross over to prey on human vulnerability. The core driving force of this world is desire and desperation. Unlike classic fantasy settings with random monsters, the entities here are deeply tied to human sins, greed, and trauma. The ultimate threat is the Agwi (Evil Spirit), born from the horrific historical practice of Yeommae—the sacrifice of an innocent child for generational wealth.
This creates a high-stakes ecosystem for your game mechanics:
* The Invisible Threat: Most spirits remain entirely invisible to the naked eye. Only specialized classes—like Folklore Professors or spiritually sensitive individuals—can track their shadows or perceive their true forms.
* The Mechanics of Corruption: The Evil Spirit feeds on human malice and desperation, growing stronger as the host succumbs to dark desires. It targets victims by forcing them into mysterious, staged suicides.
* Lore-Based Exorcism: Brute force cannot destroy these entities. Defeating or sealing a high-level spirit requires an intricate investigation system. Players must actively hunt for five sacred ritual objects and uncover the spirit's hidden, true mortal name.
It is a tense horror-mystery landscape where knowledge of ancient culture is your sharpest weapon, and your own dark thoughts are your greatest vulnerability.
