Reaper QNA!

Hey guys! Today, I got some questions about reapers! Feel free to ask more in the comments and I’ll add em here!

1. Since they can reproduce asexually, how do they do it? Si-fi cloning, cell splitting or a real life hermaphroditism?

Yes and no. Gender Delta reapers have organs, but can impregnate themselves, while Gender Beta reapers do not have organs and can ONLY impregnate themselves.

2. Do they experience any sort of "mate" instincts? Or pulls? When it comes outside species?

Yes! Some even have heats depending on what soul species they have! It’s all dependent on what creature they most represent. For example, let’s say Hex, a Gender Delta reaper with a snake soul species falls in love with a human. He will have an urge to mate, or reproduce, but he can choose to not act on it.

3. How do they devour souls by eating? Is it similar to Dementor like in the Wizarding world created by JK Rowan? Performing a "Dementor's Kiss"?

Somewhat? It depends on what method they use. And it’s not true consumption, rather, it’s absorption. Like, through being sliced with a soul-weapon, direct touch to the soul results in it being absorbed by the reaper.

4. Do they carry weapons to harvest souls to eat?

Some do, some don’t. Grims, aka Grim Reapers, are the ones who take souls, and they distribute them to other reapers. But some reapers who are not Grims do take souls. Grims are the ones you typically see carrying weapons.

5. What do the deals/contracts look like? Is there loop holes that humans/other species can use to get out of it while having the Reaper fulfill their end of it?

Contracts are usually spoken via word of mouth, so that the reaper can use specific word choices to better manipulate the contractee to their whims. Paper contracts are used by Grims to have a more solid outline for what’s expected of both parties.

6. If mating with an outside species works, is there a ritual, bond, etc? Is mating/courtship any different?

No, it’s the same as if a human were to court another human. Reaper courting is dependent on the soul species, but even then, the only differences are what kind of gifts or activities they do with their mate.

7. Hybrids, when one is born, do they look more like one parent than the other? Or is it nearly equally split/blended features?

Since their DNA is severely unstable, it’s completely random as to what traits the reaper will have outside of their parent’s standard traits. It will have traits of both parents, but still be completely random.

8. When the hybrid is of age, do they often show more instincts to one parent or the other? Or is blended as well?

They usually cling to the one who gave birth to them more so than the other, but they usually love both equally.

9. Hybrid, again. Other than physically appearance, do often have stronger/weaker strength, scent, etc.

Not particularly, they tend to look slightly more human or animal depending on what kind of hybrid they are.

10. If they don't need to mate outside the species, or even with each other... is it emotionally draining to even attempt to bond with another species or even with someone within their own species?

Not truly. Some crave companionship over being on their lonesome. However, some, like the reptilian reapers, have less of an instinct to stick with their mates, as they lack most of the hormones for love that mammals have. Gender Beta and Delta reapers tend to stick on their own, but that doesn’t make them incapable of love.

11. Why would they attempt to mate with someone outside their species? Act of true love?

Usually out of affection, though cross-species mating is also used as a peace tactic, like an arranged marriage.

12. Do they feel emotions? Express it? Is like humans, or even animalistic in ways? Is it amplified? Or weakened?

They do feel emotions, some even more strongly than humans! They’re eldritch beings, but are shockingly human in how their emotions and society works. They determine rank by blood color! But I’ll only get into that if needed. Reptilian reapers feel less than mammalian reapers, and avian reapers feel different than aquatic reapers. It really depends on the soul species.

13. When i think of Reapers, I think of them in a robe wirh hood. So how do they actually dress?

They dress however they’d like to, but most dress in futuristic garb. That or Japanese styles. Some also dress alternative. It depends on the reaper.

14. They sound similiar to incubus/succubi demons! But you said they are referred as "Fallen God". Are they more similar to angels or demons? I am assuming demons but i'd like it clarified! :)

It depends on the reaper, but most are descended from the gods. They’re most closely related to dragons and demons, however the first reaper was a fallen angel!
