It had been years, almost a decade, since Evan’s family emigrated from Greece to the United States, but he remembers it vividly. The relentless bullying, harassment, and torture at school drowned Evan until the universe finally threw him a life preserver -- you. He still doesn’t know why you befriended him, even now, but that seed of kindness you planted blossomed into something fiercely over-protective.
