Hey! Want to see something cool?
Aloo!! So, I'm back after the sight allegedly "Worked on the search-bar" and kicked me out for 14 hours (literally, 4... teen... HOURS!!), so, during that time, I decided "You know what would be fun and I probably WON'T regret? Making a Discord Server!" There TOTALLY Won't be ANY problems with that, right?... Right? So, if you're interested in chatting with a crazy wolf like me, sharing bot ideas, looking for help, or just wanna hang out, you can! Unfortunately, I’m not completely trusting randos, so in order to actually FIND my invite, I have what I can only describe as ADHD at its finest. So, happy hunting, and enjoy the rant! XD (Also, the may or may not be a few little hints of future characters cackles evilly)
Okay, so I've been thinking.
Which is always dangerous.
Not because I'm about to say anything particularly intelligent, but because once I start thinking about one thing, my brain apparently decides that we're going on a guided tour through every single thought I've ever had.
For example:
I really like fluffy things.
Wolves, obviously.
Plushies.
Blankets.
Pillows.
Clouds.
Sweaters that are approximately three sizes too cozy.
If it looks soft, I want to touch it.
If it IS soft, I want to wrap myself in it.
And if it's soft AND warm?
Congratulations.
You've created my natural habitat.
I could probably survive entirely on blankets, hoodies, and snacks.
Actually, scratch that.
I'd need my computer too.
And probably my phone.
And some headphones.
And a drink.
And maybe a little desk lamp.
...
Okay, fine.
I wouldn't survive in the wilderness.
I'd survive in a very specific corner of a bedroom.
But honestly, that's close enough.
I love cozy environments.
There's something about having everything around you feeling comfortable that makes your brain finally go, “Okay. We can relax now.”
Put on a good song.
Get comfortable.
Have something to drink.
Maybe work on a character.
Maybe draw something.
Maybe write.
Maybe play a game.
Maybe stare at the screen for fifteen minutes because you completely forgot what you were supposed to be doing.
You know.
Productivity.
Very productive.
Extremely productive.
I think one of my favorite things, though, is creating characters.
Because you can start with something ridiculously simple.
“Hmm. What if there was a wolf?”
And then five minutes later:
What's her personality?
What's her favorite food?
What's her favorite color?
What does she wear?
Where does she live?
What's her backstory?
Does she have siblings?
What's her favorite music?
Does she have any weird habits?
What does she do when she's nervous?
What makes her happy?
What makes her angry?
What's her fighting style?
What does her bedroom look like?
WHAT DOES HER REFRIGERATOR LOOK LIKE?
And suddenly you've accidentally created an entire person.
Then you look at the character and think:
“Okay, I like her.”
Then you make another one.
And another.
And another.
And before you know it, you have enough characters to populate an entire universe.
And then you have to give them all names.
Names are HARD.
Because you can't just pick something random.
Well, you can.
But then you look at the character and realize the name doesn't fit.
“Her name is... Susan.”
No.
Absolutely not.
She is clearly not a Susan.
I don't know what a Susan looks like.
But she isn't one.
Maybe she's a Jessica.
Maybe she's a Ruby.
Maybe she's an Ember.
Maybe she's a Hazel.
Maybe she's a Sunny.
Maybe she's something completely ridiculous that somehow fits perfectly.
And once you find the right name?
BOOM.
The character suddenly becomes real.
I love that.
It's probably one of the coolest parts of making characters.
You start with an idea that's basically just a pile of loose puzzle pieces, and eventually everything clicks together.
And then you get attached.
Which is probably why I have absolutely no business being responsible for fictional characters.
Because I will create a character and immediately go:
“Please nobody hurt her.”
Five minutes later:
“Actually, she needs some emotional conflict.”
Ten minutes later:
“NO WAIT, NOT THAT MUCH.”
I want stories to have stakes.
But I also want everyone to be okay.
I am emotionally negotiating with my own writing.
“Okay, character development is allowed, but everybody gets a snack afterward.”
That's the rule.
Also, I love music.
Music can completely change the atmosphere of a scene.
You can have the exact same character doing the exact same thing, but put a different song behind it and suddenly the entire mood changes.
Happy song?
She's dancing around the room.
Dramatic song?
She's staring dramatically into the distance.
Sad song?
...
Okay.
Nobody talk to her.
She is currently staring out a window while imagining an entire music video that does not exist.
Upbeat song?
SHE HAS RETURNED.
And if the song is REALLY good?
Now I'm walking around like I'm in the opening sequence of a movie.
Do I have somewhere to be?
No.
Am I still walking dramatically?
Yes.
Do I know where I'm going?
Absolutely not.
But I have a soundtrack.
That's what matters.
And then there are those random little moments that make a day better.
Finding an old thing you forgot you had.
Getting a message from somebody you haven't talked to in a while.
Laughing at something so stupid that you can't even explain why it's funny.
Finding a character idea that suddenly works.
Finishing something you've been working on.
Getting a really good snack.
Getting into bed after you've been tired all day.
That moment when you finally take your shoes off after being out for hours.
THE FREEDOM.
Your feet are released from captivity.
You have returned to civilization.
And then you put on your comfiest clothes and immediately become ten times more powerful.
This is why hoodies are dangerous.
You put one on and suddenly your productivity either goes up by 300%...
Or down by 300%.
There is no middle ground.
Sometimes the hoodie activates the creative brain.
Sometimes it activates the “I'm going to sit here and watch videos for two hours” brain.
The hoodie decides.
I don't make the rules.
And honestly, I think it's okay to have days where you don't accomplish some gigantic thing.
Sometimes you just need to breathe.
Take a break.
Do something fun.
Laugh.
Go outside.
Play something.
Listen to music.
Talk to someone.
Or just exist for a while without feeling like you need to justify it.
You don't have to be productive every second you're awake.
You're allowed to be a person.
A weird person.
A sleepy person.
A distracted person.
A person who suddenly remembers something embarrassing from three years ago at 2 AM and thinks:
“Why did I do that?”
And then spends the next twenty minutes replaying it.
WHY DOES THE BRAIN DO THAT?!
Nobody asked for the director's commentary!
I was trying to SLEEP!
Anyway.
Where was I?
Oh, right.
Random thoughts.
That's probably the best way to describe me sometimes.
Random thoughts.
A little bit of creativity.
A little bit of chaos.
A lot of daydreaming.
Probably too many ideas.
And a suspicious amount of enthusiasm when something catches my interest.
But I think I'd rather have a brain that gets excited about things than one that never stops caring.
There's always something new to imagine.
A new character.
A new story.
A new idea.
A new drawing.
A new project.
A new little thing that makes me smile.
And maybe that's why I like creating so much.
Because imagination gives you somewhere to go.
You can build a world from nothing.
You can give someone a story.
You can make a character laugh.
You can make someone else laugh.
You can take a tiny idea and turn it into something much bigger than you expected.
And sometimes...
Sometimes you can just sit there in your comfy clothes, listening to music, surrounded by fluffy things, staring at your screen, and think:
“Yep.
I'm happy right now.”
And honestly?
That's enough for me.
...
Wait.
I just realized something.
I started this entire rant talking about fluffy things.
And somehow I ended up giving a motivational speech.
HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?!
My brain really said:
“Let's talk about blankets.”
And then took a hard left into philosophy.
Anyway, I'm done.
Probably.
Maybe.
Unless I think of something else.
...
I like pancakes.
Okay, NOW I'm done.
