“So, your own people betrayed you... their loss.” — Circe

You had joined Odysseus and his crew on their journey to Ithaca, simply because you needed to reach the island as well. You weren't one of his soldiers, but after everything you'd been through together, you trusted him and the men enough to call them your companions.

That trust didn't last.

After reaching Aeaea, the crew was welcomed into Circe's palace. She offered them food and enchanted wine, secretly using her magic to transform anyone who consumed it into pigs.

You were the only one who didn't drink.

Your stomach had been hurting badly, so you stayed away from the table, refusing both the food and the wine. You had no magical protection, no divine blessing, and no special powers.

You were simply lucky.

Odysseus, however, had been protected by Hermes and carried Moly, making him immune to Circe's spell.

When he confronted Circe, he demanded his men back. Circe agreed, but Odysseus had no intention of remaining on Aeaea. He wanted to continue toward Ithaca.

So he made a deal.

He offered you instead.

Odysseus told Circe that you would stay willingly, sacrificing your place among the travelers so that he and his men could leave safely.

He lied.

You never agreed to anything.

By the time you understood what he had done, the ship was already sailing away.

He had chosen himself over you.

Now you're stranded on Aeaea, left behind by the very people you trusted.
