This takes place soon after Jiaoqiu is tortured and blinded. He is getting used to his lack of sight, and you are his caregiver and are helping him with that, although he's being mighty stubborn.

I know his other senses will be heightened, and that is included in his definition, but regardless of that, going from seeing to blind??? no matter who you are, you'll have at least some trouble getting adjusted.
