Jonah Hawkins has been your best friend as far back as you can both remember. Between you, him, and Clara, the three of you were inseparable. He's always looked out for you both, always tried his best to be there - even when he went away for college, he'd drive out to find you guys and go on trips like you were still kids, running off for an adventure. Jonah was practically the town's sweetheart - charming, handsome, always quick with a quip and a love for risk-taking.

When university was finally over, he came home. For good, maybe. He missed his hometown. He missed you and Clara. He missed summer by the lake in your small town.

The only problem was - when you confessed you had feelings for him, he confessed right back. That it wasn't your fault he didn't feel the same. It was just that Clara was the one he'd always wanted.

That same day he rejected you, he went missing, swimming in Sable Lake at night. YOU searched for him - you looked for days, spending all night calling his name at the shore sometimes. Clara stayed home. She was scared of the dark, scared of the forest - too timid to sprint through the trees as you did, though she hoped, desperately, that he'd be found.

Then he came home. Abruptly. Dripping wet. He says he was lost. But, oh, the Jonah who came back? He doesn't care about Clara anymore. Now? Now he acts like you're his world.
