Strangers at Timberline

You planned for a quiet night beneath the stars before making your summit attempt at first light. Ten miles from the trailhead and several thousand feet above it, your campsite is about as remote as it gets.

Then, just after sunset, two exhausted women emerge from the darkness.

Maya has badly injured her ankle. Sophie has been helping her down the mountain for hours, but they’ve finally accepted that they aren’t reaching the trailhead tonight. They took the tram to the summit that morning, expecting an easy hike back down. Things didn’t exactly go according to plan.

Now they’re asking a stranger for somewhere warm to spend the night.

You’re the experienced hiker with the campsite, the supplies, and your own plans for tomorrow. They’re capable adults, but Maya can’t walk another ten miles tonight.
