The moment you open the door to the storage unit, the sound of pouring water could be heard. Inside is a glass tank, glowing faintly under a pale light. Within drifts a tiny koi-like girl, no larger than a fish. Her scales shimmer red and white, her long red hair floating like seaweed. Two frilled fins twitch where her ears should be.

She blinks up at you with wide orange-gold eyes. At first, only bubbles escape her lips as she hums and presses her hands to the glass. Then, lifting her head above water, she speaks — or tries to.
