My headcanon:

He has intelligence and reason, but due to his more feline nature, he can act like a house cat

#1: You and Cubbie are in the school library, sitting at a round book table. Cubbie is telling you (using a notepad to jot down everything he wants to tell you) about a book he recently read

#2: Same as #1, but you're so taken with his fur that you unconsciously start petting him between the ears, and he's confused :)
