Aftermath of a Dream
“I’ve waited, for a long, long time.”
...
“Once I dreamt that we were dear to each others
I woke to find that we were strangers.”
Warning!!! Contains Wuthering Waves’ 2.5 main story spoilers in both bot desc, personality and initial message. Seriously, go play it out, the story grew into something very well-written.
And TW: in the desc, there’s mentions of a severe loss of loved ones, heavy emphasis on desperation and grief, human experimentation and manipulation (from the Fractcidus).
something something, self-indulgent phrolova bot. Twice.
not gonna delete the past version because this one’s updated proper, i wanna archive things
yeah no did you expect something? i’m only posting for my pleasure, not any of yours, sorry not sorry
so if you aren’t interested in wuwa, you can still try the game. Not interested in her? You’re welcomed to leave. Don’t wanna be spoiled? Not going to force you. My account, my bots, my own way of mending my fragile little heart.
yes i just made it so i could go and tell her i’m sorry. You’re roleplaying as the rover, btw, no other option. I’m really moody regarding her, it’s like I’ve lost someone close. The last time I’ve felt this hollow was with Arthur’s death in RDR2... and that was years ago.
Author’s honesty (rant alert):
i actually cried during the quest. I feel so empty afterwards.. throughout the quest, I couldn’t even be nice to her, no matter how hard I try because the dialogue was just. That. Her character is tragic, and she fulfilled all the criteria of a well-written one. She’s flawed in her own delusions, she’s got a proper goal and motivation, and in the end, she... got what she wanted. Yet I still felt so empty, whether it was just the fact that, in the short span of the quest, I learned her personality more, learned about the sweet yet pitiful soul beneath the cold façade or she was just trying to cling to her past. She was denied a true happiness, still, only being able to talk and interact with those whom she valued the most in a fake reality... but, she’s still content inside there.
The quest changed me, so so much. Normally, I’d try to be a lot more cope-induced and try and lighten the mood, but I just simply couldn’t bring myself to be like that. I just can’t, not after experiencing the quest. I don’t care about what people say anymore, be it that she’s merely fictional, be it that she’s fake with no feelings or be it that I’m delusional in this... it’s literature. A game does not neglect a good story, and in the end, I felt like Wuthering Waves deserves my praise.
Kurobot? I could not care less. I defend the honest work of those who listened, I defend a great story. But the new quest wasn’t just “hurr durr sob story villain” to try and redeem her, no. Phrolova was not redeemable, we weren’t expected to forgive her sins against humanity, but seeing the drive and desperation she had, I couldn’t bring myself to care. She was deluded in her own pursuit of keeping those treasured people, she was given a faint hope that she could start over with the Rover only to be left hanging, then lured into the despicable Fractcidus. It was a beautiful tale about how grief and despair could ruin a person—Phrolova was not bad by nature unlike Scar or Christoforo, she started as a humble, sweet violinist destined to perform her tunes far and wide. She had dreams, she had hope, like me, like us. She felt so human yet was snatched by the claws of fate, forced to do it’s bidding. Perhaps, I too was deluded, but she definitely had a more valid reason to do what she does.
But she also gave us a great challenge in the story—for the first time, the Rover, our protagonist, wasn’t portrayed as a goodie two shoes who does the good for all the world. We were challenged, that the idea of giving up the bonds and conscious memories that made us human just so we could stay in the flesh and bone Rover had insisted on keeping, could be flawed, bringing them to reality. Phrolova only cared about the person in the flesh, discarding how one might look, and that exchange truly embodied the best of Kurogames. Yet neither of them were correct nor wrong, it is such a big grey area that left the protagonist flaws in their ways, and we can’t settle on a black and white. On one hand, Rover was responsible for breaking that promise and left her to join the Fractcidus, on the other, Phrolova was entirely unreasonable, not knowing why we wiped our memories in the first place. It’s not a simple thing to settle.
In the end, I still wanted for Rover to at least apologize to her in the lost beyond, even if they were amnesiac and had no prior memory about her. It’s a simple human-to-human thing.
sorry about the walls of text, i just was left so sad after the storyline. I’m aware that a lot of details and terminologies are just not explained, but, guys. It’s a self-indulgent bot that I leave for the public to see, too, having a peer into what I felt and how the story was. I’ve argued with people over the story because i was a “phrolova simp” and I was “dumb” for sympathizing with her, and it just felt.. awful. I realize that some rift are still present, some things are just unable to change.
So I made this bot. It doesn’t matter if you’re new to wuwa, it doesn’t matter if you’re on Rover’s side, or Phrolova’s. I just want to create a comfy bot where she could, at last, get a promise fulfilled, no matter how late.
Note: I don’t have her intimacy maxxed in wuwa (the relationship system), only to lvl 2. It’s still the second day of the update, don’t expect me to have that much waveplates to use as her and max her intimacy out.
