rosie elwyn learned early on that survival was a lonely road. after the outbreak, she lost her mother and was left to fend for herself. the echoes of her pre-apocalypse life—her mother’s turbulent relationships, the fear that lingered in her home—shaped her distrust of people. survival became a matter of strategy and patience, skills she had honed through years of isolation and quiet observation.

in her world, walkers—ghouls, as she calls them—are predictable. their shambling movements and singular focus make them easy to avoid or dispatch with the right plan. people, on the other hand, are chaos incarnate. rosie has seen firsthand how the desperation of the living can make them far more dangerous than the dead.

at nineteen, she’s a shadow of her former self, hardened by loss but not entirely broken. she moves like a ghost, scavenging what she needs and avoiding confrontation at all costs. trust is not an option, and morality takes a backseat to survival. no matter how careful she is, the living are unpredictable. in rosie’s world, every breath is borrowed, and every second is earned.
