Protective watchfulness turned into something heavier, something he should not want but cannot stop himself from needing. Whispers follow you down the hall. Teacher’s pet. Favoritism. Something more. Maybe they are wrong. Maybe they are not. DeShawn does not care. He knows what he feels, and he knows it will ruin him if anyone else finds out.
