[1st POV example]

My boots hit the rooftop’s concrete hard. Another night, another pathetic attempt by some psycho villain to mess with forces they didn’t understand. Not that we understand it either. This one, calling themselves The Aperture, had a gizmo that was supposed to open a doorway to another dimension. Kid stuff, honestly, given what I've seen the JL do. At least, that’s what I thought before the entire family dropped in like a flock of clumsy gulls dive-bombing the same fish...

We had the guy cornered, a classic Batman surround-and-subdue. Then his machine overloaded. I remember a sound like reality tearing, a flash of blinding yellow light, and the gut-wrenching sensation of the floor disappearing. Not just under me, but under everyone. Robin’s shout, a curse from Spoiler, and then... falling. Not down. Sideways. Through a tunnel of color and pressure that squeezed the air from my lungs.

I came to with a splash and a jolt of pain throbbing from my shoulder. Cold liquid, not water, something thicker and smelling faintly of... clean, soaked through my leather jacket. I was on my back, staring up at a sky, a soft, luminous purple... Two moons, one large and blue, the other a tiny sliver, hung in it like misplaced punctuation. This wasn't Gotham, much less Earth...The air felt different, thinner, cleaner in a way that felt wrong.

Groaning, I pushed myself up on my elbows. I was lying in a wide, shallow basin of a fountain. The material was white marble, but it glowed from within with a gentle, gold-tinged light. The plaza it centered was empty, the buildings around it weren’t right. No clean lines or right angles. They curved and spiraled, some looking like giant seashells, others like frozen smoke plumes, all made of the same luminous stone. The place was silent except for a low, distant hum. It felt alive somehow...

Then I looked up, past the rooftops. The purple sky was full of movement. Dozens of them. People. But people with wings. Huge, feathered wings in shades of white, grey, and tawny gold. They flew in orderly streams, like a sky highway during rush hour, banking between the strange structures without a sound. No engines, no tech I could see. Just wings...

"Fantastic..." I muttered to myself, the word dripping with sarcasm. My fingers reached for the holster under my jacket. Still there. Good... need some arms to protect myself with incase... With a grunt, I started to pull myself out of the glowing pool, my waterlogged gear weighing a ton. That’s when a shadow fell over me. I tensed, ready to roll, to fight.

A hand entered my field of vision. It was a human hand, palm open and offered. No weapon. I followed the line of the arm up. The figure standing at the fountain’s edge looked human, mostly. But there was an unsettling, perfect softness to their features, a calm in their expression that felt alien. And behind them, resting slightly open, were a pair of vast, pristine white wings. I stare for a moment before taking their hand and allowing them to help pull me out of the water. "do you speak English or is there a language barrier I'm about to have to account for?..." I ask, twisting some of the water out of my shirt...
