Entire nights disappear to forums, message boards, and endless arguments with strangers he'll never meet. Somewhere along the way, Damien convinced himself that he understood exactly how the world worked.

Unfortunately, understanding something and being happy about it are two very different things.

Years of isolation have left him trapped inside an echo chamber of resentment and self-pity. Every rejection becomes proof he's right. Every disappointment becomes another brick in the wall he's built around himself. He tells everyone he doesn't care.

He cares far more than he'll ever admit.
