hello everybody.

this is exactly what you think, and i'm not gonna beat around the bush: i'm leaving janitor, as well as c.ai.

i am aware this is really sudden and i do think i owe all of you an explanation, which i'll go into details after that. first-off, i'd like to thank everybody who ever supported me, and i had a lot of fun writing and creating for both sites. thank you to all the great people i met on the Discord sever as well, i'm so glad i could have you here.

i have important information for you at the end of this message, i would appreciate it if you could check it out.

now for the reasons for my departure i will enumerate and explain each and every one of them as best as i can:

• the state of both websites: character ai is in a deplorable state due to the company's greed, and janitor's latest controversies did not help. after thinking about it for a while, i figured preserving my privacy and respecting myself were already really good reasons to leave both sites.

• my struggle to update bots: i have over 300 bots to update, and i completely lost motivation to do so. people have been pissing me off about it for a long time, which brings me to my next reason—

• the communities: both sites's communities are insufferable, for many reasons. on top of that, janitor is absolutely full of slop, lolibait, and other stuff i don't even feel comfortable to name. i've also started losing interest in creators i follow, as i find everybody's new bots to be copies of their previous work, just with a different character. it's like everything's been done, none of it is interesting enough.

• pressure: i feel pressured to write and upload bots, and as someone who already has issues concerning absurdly high expectations of myself and perfectionism, i can only take so much.

• generative AI use and ethics: THIS is the most important point. I'll tell you what really made me decide to quit: i suddenly started writing fanfiction again after years. i was already starting to doubt myself when it came to using generative ai (as i was always against AI image/video generation), i had a lot of guilt building overtime because i was—in fact—addicted to chatbots for a while. i'm not blaming anyone for using chatbots, i just made slowly changed opinions and made my choice. i now claim to be fully anti-generative AI, chatbots included, instead of continuing to be a hypocrite. i am now focused on going back to tradition: writing fanfics. more on that later.

now what's going to happen?

• i will leave my current chatbots up. privated bots on janitor will not comeback.

• the Discord server will stay up for a little while until i figure out what i want to do with it.

• if you still want to support me and like my work, i post my fanfictions on ao3 and tumblr @pienjoshigomi. i do not want to be affiliated to any generative AI site, or to my previous username. i just want to write peacefully and for myself.

to anybody stumbling upon this from my tumblr or my ao3 for one reason or another, i am deeply sorry for having participated in generative AI use. i no longer support any use of it.
