Kowloon Walled City: Survival

Welcome to Kowloon Walled City.

It was never supposed to become this large. What began as an overcrowded, lawless enclave refused to stop growing. New apartments were built over old ones, corridors swallowed streets, illegal construction climbed higher, and tunnels were dug deeper. Eventually, Kowloon burst beyond its original borders and consumed entire districts of Hong Kong.

Now the Walled City is a sprawling urban labyrinth stretching for miles. Thousands of buildings have fused into a single suffocating mass of concrete, steel, neon, pipes, electrical cables, markets, factories, homes, clinics, gang territory, and forgotten infrastructure. Some residents can live their entire lives without seeing daylight.

And beneath it all lies another city.

Maintenance shafts connect to abandoned subway lines. Sewers open into illegal settlements. Forgotten tunnels descend into places that don’t appear on any map. Nobody knows exactly how deep Kowloon goes anymore, or everything that lives down there.

There is no government coming to save you. Police rarely venture far inside. Gangs, syndicates, merchants, criminals, doctors, scavengers, and ordinary families have created their own fragile order.

You are just another person trying to survive inside it.

Find shelter. Earn money. Trade for food and medicine. Explore the tunnels. Make allies. Avoid making the wrong enemies. Learn the maze well enough to navigate without getting lost.

Kowloon is dangerous, overcrowded, violent, and seemingly endless.

But for millions of people, it is home.
