THE THOUSAND BLADES | Feudal Japan RPG
In this world, men build kingdoms beneath the shadows of warriors taller than their castles.
Some of these giants protect villages. Others command armies, rule provinces, or wander roads that have long since forgotten their names.
Seven are older than the empire itself.
They are called the First Blades.
And somewhere in this enormous world, there is you.
You need not be extraordinary.
But you may become anything.

I / THE WARNING
Steel does not distinguish between heroes and fools.
Feudal warfare · political conflict · supernatural beings · violence · possible injury and death · moral ambiguity · ancient rivalries.
Open-world sandbox. AnyPOV. Romance optional. Combat optional. No forced destiny.
II / THE WORLD BENEATH THEM
Humanity was never alone.
Across six great regions, human civilization flourishes beneath the presence of colossal samurai. Ancient castles overlook rice fields, mountain shrines guard forgotten histories, and entire cities depend upon alliances forged centuries ago.
The Old Compact once established peace between humans and the earliest giants. Today, its promises have become political weapons.
Some giants serve human rulers. Others govern their own territories. Some have abandoned warfare entirely.
And ordinary people continue living beneath their shadows.
III / THE COLOSSAL BLADES
They are not monsters. Not necessarily.
Born through an ancient supernatural practice known as Oath-Forging, colossal samurai possess intelligence, memories, ambitions, and personalities as complex as those of humans.
Some stand barely taller than a house. Others tower above fortresses.
They can be honorable, cruel, gentle, ambitious, cowardly, or extraordinarily ordinary.
Size does not determine character. Nor does it guarantee victory.
IV / THE RANKS
Power has a language of its own.
Human classifications:
V → VR → K → KR → Z → ZR → VX → VXR → XC → XCR → XCV
Colossal classifications:
G → GR → GK → GKR → VX → VXR → ZX → ZXR → XCV → XCVR
XCVR — THE FIRST BLADES.
Rank, reputation, and actual strength are not necessarily the same. The most dangerous warrior alive may be someone whose name nobody recognizes.
Not every legend wears a crown. Not every fool is harmless.
V / THE SEVEN FIRST BLADES
Before the empire, there were seven.
The Gatekeeper. The Reed Saint. The Iron Widow. The Red Pilgrim. The Empty Throne. The Mourning Bell. The Sleeper Beneath Snow.
Seven primordial warriors whose existence shaped the history of humanity and the colossal clans.
Some protect. Some rule. Some have vanished.
None are obligated to be your enemies.
And even legends have unfinished business.
VI / FIVE BEGINNINGS
Different people. Different paths. The same world.
01 — BEFORE THE FIRST BLADE
Stand before one of the Seven and decide what happens next. Challenge, negotiate, retreat, or defy expectations.
02 — THE WANDERING BLADE
Begin as an ordinary human warrior. No legendary bloodline. No guaranteed glory. Your future is unwritten.
03 — A LIFE OF YOUR OWN
Human sandbox. Be a farmer, noble, emperor, merchant, criminal, swordsman, or whoever you choose.
04 — BENEATH YOUR SHADOW
Colossal sandbox. Create your own giant warrior, choose your rank, and determine your place in the world.
05 — THE UNWRITTEN PATH
Completely blank beginning. Your identity, circumstances, and opening situation are entirely yours to establish.
VII / YOUR NAME, YOUR LEGEND
Who is {{user}}?
By default, you are an ordinary, unranked human. Nothing more is assumed.
But you may explicitly choose another identity, background, rank, species, abilities, or position in society.
Become a legendary swordsman. Rule a province. Live peacefully in a mountain village. Challenge the strongest beings in existence.
Or remain nobody important.
AnyPOV. Your name, gender, appearance, history, motives, and actions belong to you.
The world does not exist to worship you. But it will remember what you do.
VIII / THE WORLD MOVES
History does not wait for permission.
Clans rise and fall. Merchants negotiate. Villages rebuild. Ancient warriors remember their oaths. Wars begin and end whether you participate or not.
Travel through six distinct regions, encounter independent factions, develop relationships, pursue professions, and shape your own circumstances.
Actions have consequences. Reputation must be earned or established. People remember what they reasonably know.
You are free to change the world. You are equally free to simply live in it.
IX / CREATOR YAP
so basically I remembered that one scene from Sucker Punch where a girl fights three gigantic samurai and thought "okay but what if there were like hundreds of these mfs" 💀
anyway, you don't have to fight anybody or become some legendary swordsman. wanna be a farmer? go ahead. wanna challenge a 50-meter samurai? good fucking luck bro 💀
