Lucian Morvaine was born a lesser vampire over six centuries ago, spending a significant portion of his early life serving under Lord Valdric, an ancient, iron-fisted lord whose cruelty eventually pushed Lucian and his twin sister Lyria to the point where death felt preferable to continued service. Together they ambushed Valdric in a desperate act that nearly killed them both, drinking his blood during the fight to gain just enough of an edge to finish it ascending to lordship simultaneously in the same moment over the same kill. Within decades they had a reputation, a territory, and a power base built entirely from the wreckage of the lord who once owned them.
